2010 X5 35d recall x2

I dropped my car off this morning to resolve an issue from my last service (2 weeks ago). They said since that time two recalls have been issued that pertain to my 2010 x5 diesel. I've yet to really be able to learn much about them was wondering if anyone else has seen or heard anything about this.

Any info would be appreciated.

Lemme guess, they are using this as the excuse as to why they must keep it over the weekend?

I am only aware of one recall affecting 210 units made between Dec 16 and Dec 19, 2009.

Ask for it in writing from them...

I wish the would keep it over the weekend. I never mind putting miles on someone else's BMW. In any event they did not keep it, the campaign is too new, they won't have the info to update for both campaigns until mid-week. I'll bring it back then.

I'll love to see where this goes- did they fix the first (old problem) and now want you to come back for just the "two recalls"?

Post up what you find- usually we get public announcements before the dealer gets notifications and action plans.

PS I never like leaving my car with a dealer- always a chance for door dings, scratches, some bozo "detailing" it with a dirty towel, or the staff taking it for a "test drive" to lunch. It isn't like parking your money in a bank.....

So does anyone know what these actual recalls are for?

The NHTSA lists only one recall as I listed below- and it does not apply to the OPs car.

So saying there are two "actual" recalls is a bit premature....

This is the other? (which also doesn't effect the 35d)

SA used the word "recall". Since I can find no recall data anywhere online I have to assume that they are not true recalls but BMW TSB's. One is for a cold weather temperature sensor of some sort and one is related to the body/electrical. Stay tuned.

subscribed and interested in your outcome.

My father's diesel has been in the shop for 2 days now and he says that the dealer found some recall bulletin. He dropped it off at the dealer when the airbag and seat belt lights illuminated in red and basically the Passenger restraint system failed.

No new recalls posted anywhere...

is it possible people are confusing dealer service bulletins with "recall"?????????????????????

I mentioned earlier in this thread that this is certainly a possibility. I can only say that the words my SA used were "two brand new recalls" (they must have been new because they did not show up on the key read when my vehicle was in the week before.

I have an apt scheduled next week to have them completed.

Recall===> "Campaign"

Wife's 35d just came back from an overnite at the dealer for a parking brake failure message.. Anyone had that one yet? Repair order says: Perform ISID test, found fault 6011 emf control unit internal fault, not present, chk wiring @emf connector & harness for chafing. OK. clear faults, cust to monitor" Looks like they didnt find anything and just reset the display.

While in there, they said they were performing 2 "campaigns". Here's what the RO says they did:

Job #2- Perform recall 13-03-10. Program & encode w/CAS

Job #3- Perform recall 13-04-10. Replace charge air temp sensor. Parts: 1- P/N: 13-62-7-812-741 Temp sensor.

This must be the 2 'recalls' people are talking about. Anyone know what the jargon above refers to?

Ah, as I suspected- no recall.

Very interestingly a few of us have had issues with the diesel in which we'd get sporadic 'intake air errors'... the suspicions was that the programming in the DME and perhaps the calibration on the intake sensor were causing issues.... So after perhaps, what? 15 reports here, it seems they've finally undertaken an official fix for this. AND, determined that even cars that have no failure need to be fixed.

This was expected. (at lest by me)

I had the dreaded handbrake issues ..they had to replace the whole electro unit - it has something to do with wiring rubbing on panels which can cause them to short - I suspect they have fixed this in 2011 models ..but you wont be the last to complain about it in a 2009 / 2010 model .... my faults got so bad in my 2009 that they upgraded me to 2010 and bought back my 2009.
