Question on 2011 wheels option....
 

I was building my 2011 X5 35i at my dealer today. I am getting the 35i Premium trim level and he stated that with the Premium, I can only get the Style 214 wheels. I'm not too impressed with these wheels. Is this truly the only option for the Premium level?

Yes, for the 35i, BMW is experimenting with pre-packaged trim levels. On this car you are going to be limited on options. It's to market the car for different price points.

The style 214 20" rims are the only ones available for you from the factory. If you want other options, you'll either buy expensive ones from the dealer or have to deal with aftermarket options.

That's interesting - I was reading an article just yesterday about how they want more people to custom order their X3s... those builds mean more profit since dealers usually only have certain popular options ordered and they'll also save money on having to keep so many on the lot... having them built in SC now also helps that.

Personally I really hate the trim level ordering - way too restrictive. Though I can see they don't want barebone X5s out there, for this much money you should get it exactly how you want it without prereqs.
