Pictures of hitch on 2011's
Hi everyone
Does anyone have a picture of how the hitch looks on the new rear bumpers? I did not particular like how the hitch looks on the pre-LCI bumpers.. |

BMW dealer installed factory trailer hitch package with programming on August 25th. It was worth the $1100 total cost to me based on the other posts on this site.

Thanks! Is the receiver centered? What do you mean by programming?

Nice install!

At least that is how it looks to my eye. |
Thanks. Wonder what they would charge just to put the reciever. Don't need to tow anything, just use it for bike racks, etc. Then the cut out would be smaller also. Can you please post a pic from behind from a little further back so you can see the entire vehicle? Thanks!

The receiver is centered, just an optical illusion. |
Hitch receiver is centered relative to vehicle body. The bumper trim is notched out to accommodate the hitch receiver and connector receptacle. Dealer charged $1100 complete. Programming of onboard computer required 3 hr. this makes trailering compatible with suspension and transmission controls when a trailer is coupled to hitch. Based on other posts on this site, the labor required to install the hitch package alone is substantial. Cosmetics looks OK to me based on previous ownership of (3) Honda Pilots with dealer installed trailer hitch.
My single axle trailer has surge brakes only. I will be testing the installation when I haul my boat out of the water later today before Hurricane (or tropical storm) Earl arrives off Long Island by Friday. |
Anyway to get a pic from further away so we can see the entire back end? Thanks!! Good luck with that hurricane - I'm in Houston so it looks like we dodged this one.
