Warranty Question
Hello All,
I purchased a 2007 BMW X5 3.0 with Sport Package today. Really excited. It has 30,000 miles on it and I had a question about the new-car warranty. Is there anything in particular besides trim that this does not cover? I.e. will it cover suspension parts? Thanks! |
It should; however, if there are clear signs of abuse, it might not, e.g., if the prior owner drove it off a four foot drop, or drove it into a curb at 20 mph, I doubt they would replace the bent parts.

Thanks, is there a deductible like CPO?
|
Nope, no deductible.

New car warranty should cover trim as well from standard wear/tear.
And I don't believe there's any deductible on CPO warrantied items either. |
You need to get a copy of the warranty and maintenance booklet- there are e-versions, BMW can send you one as an owner. Go online and register in the owners circle.
Read it. Dealers/SAs can be PITAs with some things, so make sure you understand what is going on- many times they will tell you 'it should be covered, but just in case we have standard diagnostic fee of $150 I need to put on the work order'.... if it turns out they cannot find a fault, you are on the hook. More common with lesser warranties. Also know that some items have exclusions- normal wear and tear, usually. But a new car warranty is about the best coverage you can get. Also, the CPO coverage is significantly less than the new car- particularly with electronic goodies. Finally, no warranty covers any 'abuse' or modifications that might have led to the failure. |
