sorry to hear what happened.

i have been using the clearbra since 2002. as much i can tell you, yes it has it's weakness, but will i have not install it if i get a new car? no.

the stuff really works, but u need to know how to take care of it. not saying u did anything wrong, but the bugs remaining & bird shit are natural enemy. highly acid stuff... looking at the bright side, ur paint is fresh under the film. i can guarantee u this, if u didn't have the clearbra installed, the dead bugs will eat into ur clear coat.

i normally clean the bug right off. if i see anything color change i use Q tip with some bleach. then let it sits under the sun for awhile. usually solve the problem.

Strange. I have venture shield installed and get so many bugs, rubber, tar, etc on my front bumper front driving back and forth to the track. Sometimes I leave it on for weeks and never have an issue removing all of it with a clay bar.

That's interesting. I asked the installer about claying it to see if the residue would come off.

He said the clay would "kill" the film.

I think I'll try it. Since I plan to have it removed anyway I've got nothing to lose at this point.

Bug guts Rubber is pretty tough to get off the film, and clay bar does it each time. Hope it works for you.

I've had the 3M clear bra on my M3 since 2002. I routinely hit tons of bugs and never take the time to wipe them off until the next clean. My clear bra still looks perfect apart from the few places it has saved the paint from large rocks. I will definately get this on all my vehicles.

Must agree with Noodles - the 3M product has been fitted to my stable of cars for last 4 years - no issues with cleaning / heat / stains etc......
Some sections need to have their edges trimmed up again after the film has settled.
