So the duel has ended and I decided to just shoot the salesman. He did not want to budge on the price anymore and continued his tone of playing stupid, right up to the last minute. I cleaned out my baby, drove it over and unscrewed the plates. It was the polar opposite of the day I picked her up. I managed to shave some extra tread off the tires on the way over though:D. Windows down....shifting manually all the way. I will be sure to let you all know if I end up with a new bimmer. Thanks again for all the suggestions.

I did 7 MSDs to lower my MF rate...

Post those numbers and I can tell you if you are getting a decent deal on the lease. If you then need to eat anything of the lease, we can add those back in to the deal (but I would strongly recommend just writing out a check for them).

Leases are pretty straight forward. They only get messy when you shop payment amount instead of the other factors I listed.

One other option to consider is a six year loan through BMW at a lower interest rate (not sure if it is currently offered). I call that the build your own lease. Payment is usually close to a lease and I find it more flexible.

A 6 year loan---you know how much interest you will be paying ? That's not really good advice just to keep a payment down.

So my local dealer is cruel and unusual which forced me to shop around for my next bimmer. Went down to another dealer 60 miles away to look at 3 series convertibles for my mother and left with a 2011 50i:D I never in a million years thought I would buy(lease) a vehicle right off the lot but I had some incentive to do so. 1) I was about to rent a car for a month which turns out costs like 1000 dollars:wow:2) I was looking for the best deal I could find. 3) Instant gratification made up for the botched deal between me and my local dealer at lease end on my 4.8. Here are a couple crappy droid pics, nothing too special options wise but I am convinced that the 4.4 is all you need! I cannot believe how much quicker it feels than my 4.8:yikes: And to answer the question regarding whether or not my original offer for the same vehicle at taxes down 1010 a month was good....it was disgustingly bad. I got into this lovely thing at 810/month. Sticker 67,975 selling prince 63,175. MF .00180, RES 60%...15k/yr. I know I could have gotten this deal on a new build as well but I was kind of in a squeeze and I think it worked out quite well.

BMW was offering 2.9% for a while, others are at 3.9%.

Remember the money factor on most leases is around 6% (which is interest also). All that matters is the residual on the vehicle after 3 years. A six year loan ends up putting you close to what a lease does (and sometimes it is better).

Leasing companies are essentially doing the same thing, they take cheaper capital and charge a higher rate for it.

Sorry for the late reply, I lost track of this thread. OP the multiple MFs are also a good idea and better than the 6 year loan option.

Congrats! Looks good.

Glad to see you knocked off about 20% from what your lease payments could have been.

One of the hidden costs of leases is how many buyers (renters) get jammed in the end with excess mileage, pissant 'damage fees' and lack of bargaining for a new vehicle.

I think you would be surprised if you analyzed what you wound up paying for your car, including the fees you will get following the return...and compare that to a financing and sale of the car for market value. (or you could have kept it for a bit longer if you wanted..)

Proponents of leasing just gloss over these real issues with "well of course you need to know the terms of the lease"....

For a business purpose, a lease makes sense..but not for basic transportation. Of course if you don't give a crap about the costs, that works too. :)

I paid my overage miles out of pocket and did not include them in any negotiations. Even though my x5 had its share of nicks and even a 5 inch crease near one of the wheel wells(severe door ding) bmw did not charge me anything. I even had a missing key fob. I didn't gloss over anything I lease primarily because I am currently using my capital for other things and I do not have any intention whatsoever of keeping the vehicle beyond 3 years. :D

Nice ride. The only advice I would have for you in the future when looking to lease or buy...don't bring up monthly payments only talk bottom line numbers. What is the price of the car including all fees. Negotiate that then figure out how you will finance or if you choose to lease then work on the lease payments. If you don't mind the payment then it is your money spend it how you want. With rates as low as they are now...I would look at financing and not leasing IMHO. But your deal is done and ENJOY your New Ride!
Personally I do not like leases all that much and I can write the whole lease off through my business. There are reasons to lease for business, and there are reason to purchase for business...it just depends on the situation.

Thanks for the compliments, I am really enjoying my new ride. I was negotiating bottom line numbers. As stated above the mrsp was 67,975. Selling price was 63,175. Taxes down plus first month and delivery. MF .00180 res 60%. I used a lease calc online and the numbers didn't seem fishy to me but hey I am not a pro. :D
