Question how your X5 handles at red lights?

I just got my 2007 X5 3.0 and when I let off the gas to coast to a red-light, it almost feels like the brakes engage for a bit or a downshift and then it starts coasting. It just feels really strange and very different from any other car I have had including an E53 X5.

Is this normal? Does your X5 feel heavy when you let off the gas and decelerate quickly?

Thanks!

huge engine brake on the E70 (35d for me). If I want to coast, I have to shift it into neutral.

Normal; torque converter is locked up until low speeds for reduced fuel consumption and improved feel under acceleration. The point where it coasts more freely below 30km/h is when the converter decouples.

I had my X in to address the iPod dropping to FM and Rear Seat Entertainment not working right. They updated CCC computer software version to latest and greatest. Before the update, it was on 26.x something or other.

All I can say is night and day difference between how the X5 handles now. I no longer feel like it lunges or prematurely downshifts..

That software update must have made it to the Transmission ECU.
