"Yeah, this should be really good when the dealership gets this". Awesome...

What a crappy rental car for such an expensive vehicle too. Especially with all the headaches the owner has had.

Naz24 08-13-2010 09:38 AM

unbelievable. haha the "headlights went crosseyed"

the dealer shoudl really just replace the car for him

Price 08-13-2010 09:39 AM

Is this in Florida? My guess the car was flooded.

GAM3OVR 08-13-2010 10:08 AM

Florida, Land Rover ended up buying his car back and I think he bought a Porsche GTS.

I've said it before, but I really like the Range Rover Sport, but didn't trust them enough to drop that kind of money for it, even in a lease. That was a big factor, along with the fact that they didn't have a power plant that could compete with the Diesel. So I went with zee Germans.

before I bought my x5, I had an 06 RRS HSE. Although I loved driving it (easy to drive and very comfortable), I just couldn't deal with all the little noises and little problems it had. I bought it new and owned it for 2.5 years (20k miles) and it's been in the shop for:

- Loose windshield nozzle - once for the left and twice for the right
- AC leak in line
- Replaced emergency braking system
- Replaced steering rack
- Peeling leather on shift knob
- Few noises and creeks

Although I had heavily modified it and loved driving it, I was so happy to see it gone

My 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged was a NIGHTMARE! I only had it about 3-4 months! Bought it on a Saturday night, and it was towed into the dealership on Monday morning. When I would put the car in Reverse, the A/C would blow warm (the dealership had NO idea why, and could never fix it)!! Adjustable air suspension would raise, lower and drop on it's own. Navi screen/radio/CD/Sirius would freeze without any warning. Various warning lamps and messages. Car would not start at least 2-4 times a week. Just dead....and then 15/20 mins later, it would fire right up!

My 2008 Full Size Range Rover HSE was leaps and bounds better, but still in the first 2 months the steering column and seat memory ECU went out (and it took 2 months to get the part). It was bad, because the steering wheel would lower itself to the lowest position....and I had to drive the car with the steering wheel hitting my legs (and it was hard to get out of the car)!!!

I love the looks of Range Rover, the ride quality, the comfort, performance, heritage... but I think it has made my list (along with SAAB) as NEVER AGAIN!!! :-o

But wait.... Jeremy Clarkson thinks the gods spent a few days in the Range Rover HQ when those were made... Are you telling me I can't believe everything I see on TV?

GAM3OVR 08-14-2010 07:12 PM

^^^ Very good point, he took a shit on both the X5 M and also X6 saying they are crap and RRS is the best thing

Viperfreak2 08-16-2010 07:43 AM

Interesting (recent) history for Land Rover. That car was a BMW design, back when it owned the Rover group. Then it became a Ford, and they replaced the engine and electrical architechure with Jaguar stuff. Now it's a TaTa. Indian curry, not to my taste.

Recently test drove a 2010 Range Rover Supercharged back to back against a 2011 X5 5.0. IMHO, the X5 blew it away in all performance categories except AC. Now whether that impressive AC in the RR will continue working is another matter altogether.

Something else to make you laugh........and they arent spinners

He may have the patience of Job, but I am not sure about having Job's smarts, if it took him buying three of these vehicles to figure it out.

While the HVAC vents are oddly placed (the center ones sit so low, that they freeze your hands while holding the steering wheel)...the Climate (AC) in my 2008 Full Size RR HSE was really, really great. Both my '07 & '08 AC in my X5s were horrible...really horrible. RR HSE has great AC!!

As with many people on this forum I considered the RR Sport prior to both my current X5's purchase and the 2008 Touareg I leased. I found the rear seat to be cramped, the audio/climate systems to be dated and the fit and finish left much to be desired. The icing on the cake? When the sales person was discussing the wonderful backup camera however upon shifting into reverse the screen went black with an error code. OOPS!

My previous full sized Supecharged RR had a better rear view camera and roomier interior. It also had more amenities but should for a 100k vehicle. Too bad it was in the shop so much. I live a little over an hour away from the dealer so it was very inconvenient. I also liked not seeing a RR every couple minutes while driving like I do with BMW's. But there is a reason for that...
