Error code with 80w GP Thunders with angels.
I slapped them in today along with the fogs. I kept the fogs the OEM watts but stepped up the angels to 80 = error codes. Am I getting the code because their 80's? What watts are you running with GP's without any codes?
it's possible... it looks like the ones I got were the standard 35w 8500k (35w 7500k not available on the other page):
H8 by HID Lights USA It's also possible the facelifted X has an issue with it - can never be sure unless someone else can confirm their 80w or 35w AEs work in their MY2011. What happens if you just put in the fogs and leave the AEs stock? |
This code only happens when the headlights are on with the AEs are on. No code with them on during the day without the head lights. Hmmmm.:dunno:
Error codes are thrown due to power consumption outside a tolerable band, whether it be higher or lower. Your 80 watt bulbs are clearly the cause.
I'd say yank them out.. you don't want to melt the wiring...
I agree. Your harness was not designed for that power consumption. Your bulbs are also running hotter.
Yup.. I removed them and will be replacing them with OEM 35w after market bulbs tonight. Thanks for the feedback..
