Which one is faster 35i vs 35d
Does anyone actually know which one is faster ? I am not only referring only to 0-100km but also in speeds like 120 to 200km.... The 35d has better torque but the new 35i looks very promising too! Numbers dont really matter since i've seen in front of me 35d ( European 30 sd ) vs 4.8i and couldn't believe that the 30 sd was a bit faster.... well to be honest the sd was remaped up to 325hp.

OK, I'll bite first...
Probably close enough that few of us could perceive a true difference. |
I'd get the diesel and remap it. I suspect it will be a stronger motor. But time will tell.

The 4.4 TT is faster than both

All I would want to know is which sensors/signals that thing is manipulating to get the supposed extra power... It isn't remapping the DDE, just manipulating a signal to trick the engine computer. Most of those type of things are pretty craptastic... usually better to stick with real programming from well known companies that put the right amount of testing behind their product.

Totally agree. There is a safe envelope that can be used (or maybe 'relatively safe' or 'within the likely BMW design limits') that still uses the hard coded safety features.... I have a fair amount of experience with gas turbo engines (non-BMW)- where the DME can instantly change things like AFR, timing to protect the motor, and more slowly boost control...yet people try and hack this stuff out of the DME and plant on external controls- or fool the DME into reading false values...you pay the piper. Here is some interesting info: N54 Tune Comparison Chart (Detailed) - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum - E90Post.com Personally those tunes that do not involve re-writing the DME are less desirable to me. They cannot use every safety feature fully. if you are going to mod, assume you MAY wind up eating $$$ your motor. A |

However, in the UK, where the 40d is offered (with more hp than the 35d), its performance is virtually identical 0-62 to the 35i (BMW figures, which presumably are conservative by similar amounts for both models). So, I would conclude that the 35i is faster 0-62 than the 35d. I don't see any figures for 120 km/hr -200 km/hr, not surprising at this point in time, it is too early. Now, back to XXX555's first comment, I agree that most won't be able to tell the difference. And if you want to chip them to increase the power, both are equally tunable IMO. There are a lot of choices out there for tunes on the 35i and I would say that ultimately it will be tuned to higher levels than the 35d. |
