X5 3.5D Build Questions
Getting ready to order my 2011. Two questions:
First, has anyone seen an X5 in Deep Sea Blue? I love the color on the E60 and F10, but am concerned that with the X5's surface area and all the black trim, it may not look as good on the E70. (I was thinking possibly DSB over Oyster; could be gorgeous or hideous). Second, when I build it on BMWUSA with the Sport Activity Package, the "Sport Suspension Delete" box can't be unchecked. Is this a temporary issue? Will they start building the SAV's with sport suspension any day now? (It doesn't look like there is any savings from deleting the sport suspension). Or is the sport suspension just too stiff for real world use? Thanks in advance! |
Yes, the '11 X5 in DSB is gorgeous! I actually have a friend who is building one and he switched from Vermillion Red on Oyster to DSB on Oyster...
Regarding an X5 with the SAP, the sport suspension will be standard and may be upgraded to having the Adaptive Drive. If you "uncheck" the box when building an X5 on BMW's website, this is not a possible combination with the SAP and the package itself becomes deleted. I also don't think the sport suspension is too stiff on the X5, but you'd just have to drive one to see for yourself. |

If you choose the Sport Activity Package for the 35D, the box "Sport Suspension Delete" is automatically checked. If you uncheck it, the entire Sport Activity Package is deleted. So the only way to get a sport suspension (at least right now) is to spend $3,500 for the Adaptive Drive. I have the M3 for my "fun" car, so decided I did not really need Adaptive Drive on the X5. The 20" wheels should make it handle reasonably well in the summer, and I will be running snows on dedicated winter wheels. I am |
The sport suspension is deleted in the diesel so the ride will not be too harsh with the SAV package since the wheels are upgraded to 19's (or 20's for an extra $900)

I also will be running the style 214 20's in the summer and either the 19" 335's in winter or 4 front 214's 20 X10 with Nokian studded snows (I know....just call me crazy)
