Drainpipe from the panorama sunroof DIY E70
 

I have an issue with water coming form the roofpanel while heavy raining. After a check its clear that the drainpipe from the left front side of the roof is almost blocked near the bottom... What to do ?
How could I reach the pipe under the car ? Other tips ? :confused:

If it is under warranty, bring it in,and BMW will fix it

Since you're in Norway, I'll assume you're out of warranty. On most other BMWs, you can use trimmer string from the sunroof opening itself to feed through the drain tubes to open them up. Compressed air is another option.

heyy hvordan har du det? you can try using an air compressor, leaf blower, or anything similar and see if you can blow out any debris that's stuck there.

The Facebook group's name is 'BMW paranormal sunroof' and you are welcome to join and post your pictures and feedback.

This group is primarily meant for owners of a BMW with a 1st generation (2005) panoramic sunroof and that are suffering from leaks (in the rear, due to clogged drains).

I am curious about the global scale of this problem.

I have had an e70 for 3 years to the day today and had nothing but 1 problem with it - WATER.
after it been in the BMW workshop about 15 times over the last 3 years, it was discovered 3 weeks ago that the drain pipes from the sunroof going down the a pillars are clinked on both sides and as this car has never been anywhere but my main dealer, they are indicating that this was done at manufacture which will explain why it first happened after the 1st heavy rain but at the time they put it down to a lose grommet on the rear tailgate even though the water was coming through the sun visor. they have now ordered the replacement tubes and are still waiting on BMW technical on how to fit them - it has even been suggested by the dealership that they may need to cut a section out of the 'A; pillars to pull the tubes through - at this point I am going out of my mind on how this can be accepted - i bet they encounter lots of new vehicle requests on the warranty deadline but i think this is a genuine request as I don't want any paint job or welding done on my car - if i did I would pay 25k for a second hand one and not the 62k for a new one that i paid for - see my previous posts regarding this problem which includes my car acting as a sauna in the summer

I've just found out today the real problem is getting the tubes in/out as the tubes are clipped along the INSIDE the a-pillar tube compaired to the e53 where the tubes run along the outside of the a-pillar with clips, so if anybody has come across this problem i would appreciate it.
BMW UK are really dragging their heels on providing the information to my BMW dealer.

this sounds like a problem that will arise at some point for every owner in a rainy climate. Can someone illustrate somehow what to look for... as in how to know it's filling up?

I get my car back I will take pics and a you tube clip on how to test and what to look for
