Changes to Ordered Cars
Does anyone know how much time I'd have to make changes to an ordered car once the order is submitted? How long does it take for the car to actually go into production?
|
You need to ask your dealer. Often a custom order is put together with a previous order, which is changed to fit your specification, so they use that production slot. You have much less time in that case than if the order was put in fresh.
|
I believe any time before it gets schedualed for production but I would call your salesperson for the exact answer
|
So technially, even though it's assigned a production number. It's not actually scheduled for production yet and changes can be made.
Asking cuz I spoke to a dealer on Thursday and he's telling me that it's going into production and that I can't make changes. Very interesting as I haven't signed anything or left any deposit. Think he's just pulling my leg. |
Well if it is scheduled for production then it is going to be built. If the status was still at ordered then you can make changes
|
Thanks for the reply.
I understand that the dealer could be using a previous production number that has been ordered but not in production. But IF this was not the case and it was a brand new order, what is the typical time an ordered car would go into production status (lately). I know all can change all the time depending on demand. |
Take a look at this thread.
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-one-week.html So if other posters are receiving their new (E70) cars in 10-16 days, then I suggest that your window for making changes after placing an order has essentially evaporated. You should make sure you get it configured right when you place your order, IMO. |
It depends again on when your order was placed on the order queue and also the packages and options. Some items will move the order into priority 1 status which gets build before non-priorty. Other items will delay your build like certain colors and leather wrapped dashboard.
As to your comment about the financing and deposit. I had to put down 1500 because we ordered a car optioned to MSRP at 82k. They said they would not order this car for stock (mainly because of the HUD,third row, and active suspension). If you ordered amcar with options that the feel they could sell if you did not buy the car then they may not ask for one My car is in production and it is said to be completed by Oct 6 and that status changed on the first. |
