Need a opinion on Wheel protection
Just got home today and i noticed that two of my emblems are missing on the rims. Someone that didn't no how to removed them tried prying them out or something. One is completely gone and the other is still partially there. Just the Bmw logo on the cap is missing... with obvious marks of someone sticking a screw driver or something trying to pop it out. I park my car right outside my house in a fenced off yard and the two closes wheel was the ones that were affected. Bunch of no good thieves in queens... So i need to replace these and probably order a new set but i am not worried about rim protection and where i could get OEM wheel locks and if they actually work?

those wheel caps are only a few bucks on ebay... they must have nothing better to do. As far as wheel locks... if I were in your position I'd get them - despite the fact that if they want it bad enough, pros can circumvent it in a matter of minutes... deterrent from kids on the block though. I would still have mine on if I didn't need the extended bolts with my spacers.

any recommendations on the wheel locks by any chance?
|
I got the BMW ones - I think McGard makes some good ones too. There's only a handful of keys to them, especially the BMW ones, so again, someone who wants it badly can probably get it off easily. Just be aware.

my '08 came from the factory with wheel locks in the rear storage area.
the OEMs seem to work fine. my tires have been rotated 5 or 6 times with no issues. |
The McGard High Security locks are pretty undefeatable.... Last time I checked they were only available in Europe:
Automobile - Wheel locks- SL bolts (ultra high security) Unlike the usual, the outer ring is freely rotating, so slamming on a socket will NOT work. Bad news is that if you lose the key you are truly SOL. |
lol wow sounds like a real bad thing losing keys to those locks but yea i am defiantly gonna look in to that.
|
Anyone know the size of the bolt i need and which one specifically by McGaurd?
|
mcgard makes them for BMW. So they are all Mcgard. Be aware of breaking the keys.

i am reading on other forums how BMW sells two kinds of Wheel locks one that is 70 which are the standard ones but have only 5 different keys and they are very apparent. and 40 dollar ones that are cylindrical. i am starting to feel that buying wheel lock seems kinda pointless from BMW and i cant seem to get a definitive answer on what the lug size is either =/
