Run Flat Tires vs Regular link.

It is from Mercedes, but applies to any cars :

Run-flats vs. Regular Radials

I love the line taking a shot at the Internet. Hate to tell Mercedes that the Internet usually has better information than the dealers.

They also forgot to mention that when you are in the sticks, repairing or getting a new runflat is darned near impossible right now.

I personally, especially on the family X5 would rather have the run flats - performance difference is not a big deal to me as I am not tracking my X5, ride isn't bad most of the time, they do hit a bit hard on potholes compared to normal tire. But overall, I would rather have my wife and kids just drive the car some place safe and deal with it then instead of being disabled at the side of the road god know where. Price isn't really as big a difference as it used to be, the Bridgestones on mine are $950 for regular and $1150 for RFT for the set, so $50 more a tire on $250 tires. Ultimately it would be nice if you could carry a spare also just in case (I have the 3rd row, so no room), but every now and then you see a runflat fail completely and then you are in the worst possible situation as you have a flat, can't drive the car and have no spare, so you just have to wait for help, but I still think the pro's outweigh the con's at this point!

 ...reads like an excellent Yogi Berra saying, and I agree.

The art. was a snippet, Reader's Digest style.
There are pages of Threads on RFTs pros&cons on this site, and
all over the web.
