8ball 11-04-2010 09:14 AM

Upgrade the sound.

jgf330xi 11-04-2010 12:21 PM

1. HUD... I added at the last minute.. and Love it..

2. COMFORT SEATS..

Sound: If it does NOT include the DVD changer in the glove box then OK, but WHO listens to CD's any more.1. .

Treeboy 11-04-2010 05:25 PM

Most Enjoyable: Comfort Seats
Coolest: Top view camera
The one I miss: HUD
The one I do not miss: Running boards
Couldn't live without: Comfort Access
Wouldn't pay extra for: Panorama roof

Good luck!

edpm3 11-04-2010 05:46 PM

Comfort Access.

blue dragon 11-04-2010 06:24 PM

adaptive drive - Coming from an M3, adaptive drive still allows you to have some fun, especially if you are running the 20s

Richard in NC 11-04-2010 08:39 PM

I second all the above comments.

quackbury 11-04-2010 10:18 PM

If you're getting the diesel, I recommend the hose attachment that lets you fill the urea tank from the driver's seat, so you can drink coffee on those long drives without having to pull into rest areas.

MRV99 11-04-2010 10:23 PM

A 4.4L twin turbo engine pushing 400hp

AzNMpower32 11-04-2010 11:15 PM

Be more specific: options vary by model.

Get the diesel model. Efficiency and power, plus that power comes in the form of great day-to-day passing power.

Top three options in this order:
1. PDC
2. Sport Activity Package
3. Adaptive Drive

Useless:
Running boards
3rd Row seat

Bigtop 11-04-2010 11:32 PM

1. 4.4 litre V8 Twin Turbo - just awesome!
2. Adaptive Drive
3. Comfort Access

I'm sorry for stupid question ...but what is HUD ?

Thanks.

blue dragon 11-05-2010 03:20 PM

Heads up display. I have it on my car and love it too.

Penguin 11-05-2010 03:24 PM

My favorite option is the heated seats. The BMW implementation heats-up really fast.

jgf330xi 11-05-2010 03:27 PM

Heads Up Display..

Viperfreak2 11-05-2010 03:35 PM

Comfort access. I love jumping into the car and pushing the button.

Now when I get into any other car without it, I sit there staring at the dash thinking, WTF? I have to get my KEYS out of my POCKET and INSERT one into a HOLE (no funnies) on the DASH and TWIST it before I can go? Wierd!

Oh...thanks. I have it too and love it, but never used this abreviation before :)

mswaz 11-05-2010 07:58 PM

Comfort Acces, HUD, soft close doors. I know I know i thought whats the point on soft close doors but when you have it, it probably is the single best thing. Its just so pleasant....

:iagree: Though headed multicontour seats are a 4th! (even in warmer climates!)

Agreed...until my 70+ mother got them. Keeps loosing the fob somewhere in the car...while on vacation. It was hilariously funny..except to her. Eventually (with flashlight) she found it between consol & seat on the floor...after 3 days of not being able to lock the car, nor prevent someone else from driving off in it! Now we make her wear it on a lanyard around her neck (not very BMW-ish looking!)

AzNMpower32 12-03-2010 10:39 PM

The newest BMWs no longer have a key slot regardless of what key option one orders. The remote is recognised once it is within the vehicle. So that part of the "Comfort Access" benefit is disappearing on the newer BMWs. This is already in place on the new X3, 5er, and 7er.

The CA option essentially allow the user to open/lock the doors via the handle versus pushing the key fob on the newer cars.

Heh after driving my other car for a while then getting back to the X5, when I stop the car I try and remove keys from the ignition... WHERE ARE THE KEYS?!

ukwildcat 12-05-2010 12:29 PM

Seems many of us agree..

I love..

HUD (also added it at the last minute, but I LOVE this option)
Comfort seats
Comfort access
Premium sound (and *I* still listen to CDs, thank you!)
Top view camera is very cool.. Of course, now I'm forgetting how to park "normally"
NAV, but that goes without saying (you do get a bigger display)
19" wheels (versus 18")

What I'm ambivalent about..

Panorama roof is nice, but I probably would not miss it if it were gone.
It does feel more like you're "on the road" rather than "in the car," though.
I use my automatic high beams and they work well, but they are confused by highly reflective signs, which are everywhere.
Ventilated seats are nice, but they are very.. subtle. Other vehicles with this feature it's plain and obvious.

Don't miss..
Running boards are not useful.
Didn't like the sport package myself (didn't get it, but my test drive had it)

Wish I had gotten the adaptive cruise control, though.

Richard in NC 12-05-2010 01:04 PM

I agree on most points.
What I like:
HUD
Comfort Seats
iPod integration (wish I had the updated features)
Active steering (makes parking a breeze)
side and rear cameras
Active suspension (impressive handling for a 5300 lb 'truck')
Nappa leather (everybody has complimented how nice the interior is)

What I dislike:
Not much
Glove box (very deep but still doesn't seem big enough)
The A/C (it never seems to get the fan speed right, even compared to several previous BMWs that worked just fine)
Lack of a temp gauge

Adaptive Drive.... I'm into handling.

Looks, gadgets much less of an interest to me (all personal opions here)

Most useless (in order)?
HUD, comfort access, running boards, leather upgrades, sport pkg, rear climate

(Although I got the last two, plus tech, nav, etc, etc) :)

A

dbox 12-08-2010 01:50 PM

+1 for comfort access

Skystreaker 02-05-2011 03:18 AM

* Heads up Display for sure - makes everyday driving that much less boring.
* Adaptive drive
* Top down camera.

A question - does anyone out there have Adaptive Cruise Control as part of the Sports Activity trim?

I don't have it in my car (2011 X5 xDrive35i Sport Activity) but the BMW.com's X5 Sports Actvity specs pages seems to indicate this.

Richard in NC 02-05-2011 08:34 AM

Dynamic Cruise Control is just a braking function to keep you at the set speed going down hill. Active Cruise Control optionally adds the laser distance sensing and automatic pacing functions in traffic. It's not worth the cost in my opinion.

Funny.. That's what the dealer told me too. :)

Speedlogix 02-07-2011 01:42 PM

I love everything I got, but the Technology package is so cool.

ad78 02-07-2011 01:56 PM

iDrive
Adaptive

ShantF1 02-07-2011 07:37 PM
