275/45/20 for Non staggered Winter Set Up?

Hi all, new to forum-

I searched the forum but couldn't find an answer to my question. Just picked up a 2008 4.8 and I am going to run a square set of 20X10 replica 214's for my winter set up. I can purchase an almost new set of 275/45/20 Blizzaks DM-V1's from a Q7 for a significant discount. Does anybody have experience going with the slightly taller tire or should I just go with the stock 275/40/20 size?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

No experience but you'll probably be fine.

I spoke with my wheel and tire guy about this same issue, you will be fine. Minimal error in speedo. Actually gives you a hair bit more side wall for ride and protection.

I run 275/45/20 on all four with yoko parada spec-x. I highly recommend this tire. Another member, HUK, has posted pictures of the same setup.

Just wanted to report back on this thread. I ended up mounting a set of 275/45/20 Blizzak DM-V1s on 4 replica 214s in the 20 X 10 size. There was only 2% increase in diameter over the stock 255/50/19 tires. I have had the tires on for two weeks now with no rubbing or any issues to speak of. I have been through a couple of major snow storms (I live in a ski town) and the tires preformed great. An added benefit is that even though I went to a lower profile tire, the ride is more comfortable than the 19 inch run flats. If anybody is having reservations about a 20 inch snow tire, I wouldn't worry about it as long as you go with the square set up. I wouldn't want a set a 315 width tires on the back, but the 4 275s work great. I have included a couple of iPhone pics so you can see how the different size looks.

This looks great. I would love to get this done on my X5, but since I have a 3rd row, I am hesitant to let go of RFT.

The meaty tires do look good on these things.

Any idea how those would work on the factory staggered wheels. Mine are kinda dinged up from previous owner, so thought about using them as my winter set and getting a new set of wheels for the summer

cool, thanks for the info :)

Where did you find a supplier to sell you the square setup?

Wheel and Caps sold me the square set of replicas (4 Fronts). I don't know about mounting four 275/45/20s on a staggered set up, but I think others have done it with the 275/40/20 size.
