I have a 2007, yes, there were some issues in the first year
but since then nothing
I would not change it for a 2011
given the big hit I would have to take
for basically the same car

Glad you'll be back in a Bimmer, B-Boi! :)

Agreed - I had an 07 4.8 - lots of problems, i got the X5 in Nov of 2006. Dealer took back the car in april of 08 due to continued adaptive drive software failures and gave me a new 08 4.8. THis car i had for 2.5 years and has been flawless, never saw the dealer. I sold the car for 39k with 35k miles on it. So yes, i would avoid the early model 07's.

Got an 07 4.8 with no issues. Great car.

2008 4.8 w/ sport, november 2007 production date. nothing major; window switch, sunroof switch, TPS..? maybe, tail lights hold water. it runs like a scalded dog. just passed 60K.

Hello all,

I'm looking at getting into a 2008 4.8L cpo. Im having a tough time figuring out the production run date cycles on the 2008.
Im looking for two things in a late production run:
1) auto tailgate-I think this came out in Nov 2007
2) was the 'x-drive' badging added in late prod 2008s?

Does anyone know or can suggest a link to this info?

I wish I was in the states, 1.9% financing at bmw.com and im seeing well over a 100 vehicles. In Canada im looking at 4.9% with only 18 vehicles at our cpo site....o well...im hoping a bunch of 2008's start coming in off leases and financing....the 2007s have stopped coming in all together.

Great looking site and forum community.

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks for the feedback. What is your MPG avg? I assume it's mostly freeway?

Yeah. I talked to my mechanic (who exclusively work on BMW's) and he said the 2007 models have been ok. I would prefer a 2008 because it would have a longer CPO/Warranty period
