Do you think you will run into heat issues with a HID bulb in the angel eye bulb area?

I think LUX looks better than HID's in my book - MDS LUX H8 Rings for E92/E93 BMW 3 Series, E90/E92/E93 BMW M3, E90 BMW 3 Series (LCI) and E70 X5 - North American Motorsports

Ultimate is OSS ➥ F1 AUTOHAÜS - OSS Designs • High Powered LED Angel Eyes think they can do X5's but it isn't cheap!

KREED_X5 11-26-2010 08:52 AM

brabus209 does sell them. I had a set on my E60 550. Actually sold it two days ago for my X5. Didn't get a chance to swap back out the Fogs. The 6000k Kit I had was great. Already planning to get another set. What do you guys do for the halo's??? Any particular brand? I've already asked brabus209, just waiting to hear back from him. Got all my light upgrades from him.

LI-X5 11-26-2010 03:00 PM

If your interested, try this guy as well. John Sharp is the owner. I've talked with him several times on a couple of other vehicles I've owned.

HID Xenon conversion lighting kits

Lifetime Warrenty as well...!

LI-X5 12-01-2010 10:17 PM

so these didnt work !!

they looked awesome , really bright great color 6k imo looked prettyy official !

so the problem was when we turned on the headlights the rings would flicker and then shut off completely !

we ruled out ballast , bulb , wirring etc

any ideas ? :dunno:

i can't the first to try this

KREED_X5 12-02-2010 12:56 AM

Which bulbs and kit did you use?

LI-X5 12-02-2010 01:14 AM

zentec h8 6k plug and play

benz715 12-02-2010 09:07 AM

thats a tough one, try to call the vendor as ask any lighting guy you know that builds or installs kits- regardless- good luck with that!

I was at this euro tuner shop that I always goto for my parts today looking to change the colour of my angel eyes from yellow to white and tried various options.

-mtech globes (no where near bright enough to even light up the second ring)

- LED marker kid same design as your link there ( lights up the inner right perfectly, but the outer ring is significantly darker..ended up getting these but wanted to see how they looked in true darkness..)

-HID kit (definitely the better option in my mind but I didnt want to have to hang a ballast somewhere else as I wanted a fully enclosed solution where I could put the rubber seals on the back of the headlight)

benz715 12-02-2010 10:08 AM

Neil,

You can talk to member brabus on e60 who does HID's and i heard they look sick-i know Kerry got them and C says he is very good- i am just going to go with GP thunders as they are cheap and look decent- cant beat $20 bucks.

Best of luck
Yusuf

I have installed XENTEC HID on my other vehicle (RAM 3500) and it works great. It's as bright as daylight. The problem with installing this on the E70 CORONA lights is that you have to remove the rubber seal completely to accomodate the wiring for the ballast.

compared to that xentec slim HIDs, this VVME H8 HID kits ,on 60% discount ($31.99) for oncoming Christmas is a better choice for plug-and-play install...Wholesale H8(H11) HID Conversion Kit HID Bulbs Xenon HID Car Headlights Ballast at cheap price
my friends recommend to me for this HIDs, just ordered last week and might arrive at my door tomorrow... cant wait to install it......

for your problem of error codes, you can install a error canceller for HID to delete it and make ur HIDs work properly....

Anyone else using a similar kit? where abouts have you mounted the small ballast?

Im just a tad worried about how hot it gets, and it sitting on top of other wires..I dont want it to melt anything..

LI-X5 12-07-2010 12:34 AM

didnt you read this thread ? the regular hid kit the way it comes doesnt work in the angel eyes , there's a fluctuating voltage or something that doesnt allow a standard issue hid kit to work !

dbox 12-16-2010 12:42 PM

do you have them yet? if so please tell me all went well :)

someone mounted their ballasts on the wiper fluid resevoir and the fuse box.
They get warm, but certainly shouldn't be getting super hot. Most ballasts are mounted with zip ties or double stick tape... if it doesn't melt those, it sure as hell shouldn't melt a wiper fluid resivoir or fuse box. If yours are getting hot enough to melt plastic, you've got a problem.

I have mine VVME.com normal ballasts mounted on my fuse box with no problems.. on the other side I have one on the fender and the other down a little lower... no problems at all..
