Mobile Office and Iphone
 

Does anyone know when the Iphone will work with the Mobile Office features of the BMW Assist with Extended Bluetooth (639)? It currently only works with Blackberrys. However, my dealership stated that a software update will become available for it to work with Iphones.

I was wondering this too - the mobile office feature is a very distinguishing attribute of the new X5's, and even some of the youtube clips show the mobile office working with an iphone. However, the BMW literature only has a single phone that works with it - it's a Blackberry Curve (not all Blackberry's as far as I know). But apparently BMW is trying to roll the feature out to iPhone's quickly - don't know of a timeline though.

I have also been watching for this functionality as well. Maybe they're holding it back until the iPhone4 adapters become available. I checked with my Dealer in the UK and the reply he got from BMW GB was that stocks were being built up, but that they then needed to be tested to make sure everything worked!! Go Figure! I would have expected testing to be done BEFORE going into production, and then batch testing to be carried out on the products. Europe was told November, then December, then end of January. Now February and still nothing.

Why would you need to wait for an adapter? It is all done via the bluetooth connection.

Hope all it needs is bluetooth.

By the way, spoke to my dealer and they are receiving shipments of the iPhone 4 snap-in adapter in 2 weeks (i.e. mid-February).

Now when Apple launches their next iPhone in June / July (expected to be a 4G phone on the Verizon LTE network), hopefully it doesn't have a different case style so that the iPhone 4 adapter will work.

it works w/ my updated 6.0 bb curve but it is NOT a real push/pull and have seen it take 10+ min to push a new text/email to the car.

Its not a BMW limitation, its an IPhone limitation. Therefore unless the Iphone enables certain bluetooth profiles, then it won't work with Office. Thats why you can't see Track Metadata when you use Bluetooth streaming

So is BMW asking Apple to create a BMW profile that will work and if so when?
