7 seats

Does anyone know if these can be retrofitted?

xoutpostking 11-28-2010 07:08 AM

Yes but it will proly break your bank.

Thanks I've seen a couple I like but there either missing the pan roof or 7 seats - I think the seats would by an easier fit than the roof

It will certainly cost you way more to retrofit than it is worth if it is even possible, I think the floor well may be different when you get the 3rd row. Also don't forget the 3rd row is typically a bundled option - here in the US, you get the air leveling suspension and 4 zone climate with the 3rd row. I ended up leasing new as a used one with a 3rd row was too hard to find!

Think I'll sit patiently and wait for the right one

Try 'em first

I have the 3rd row seats, and wish I'd passed.

They're probably the right size for an under 6 year old, but that's about it. The only way we were able to fit an adult back there was sitting sideways in one seat with their feet in the other.

The center console between the seats precludes lying down in them, if you were diminutive enough to fit...

I'd rather the spare, and the jack. Now I know.

Thanks that's good to know. Do they take up more space? is there less space in the trunk as a result of having the 7 seats?

BigAl 11-29-2010 03:05 AM

With the seats folded flat, no. They're totally unobtrusive when flat.

You will lose the spare, which means runflats, only, and no jack. No spare. There is a stowage bin, but it's intermediate in size. Not bad, not terrific.

The only reality for this is to go to the dealer, put them up, and see if they're worth it. I thought yes, and guessed wrong. The rest of the X5d is awesome, and as I have used the 3rd row seats once they're not an issue. I thought they'd be useful for the grandkids, and they were limited at best for that.

+1 seats are totally flat, no difference in trunk space with or without them and they are small, my kids bring their friends with them, so it is perfect for that, but adults won't want to be back their for very long!

But can't you push the second row forward? all the way forward?
