X5 Reliability Survey
Guys,
for any potential future X5 owners, i'd highly reccomend that you read the reliability survey at www.truedelta.com for BMW E70 before you pay your hard earned money on a BMW. I have had a lot of rattles and unresolved problems on my car, still trying to resolve the same issues after 2 years when i bought from BMW Australia brand new. cheers |
Amazing...every single car model on that site has nothing but reports of problems!
Wonder how that happens? By definition, "reliability" needs a denominator- so if there are 40 reports of X5 issues, WHAT DOES THAT SAY ABOUT MINE? 40 out of 40? 40 out of 40,000? Maybe I am missing something, but that site is absolutely useless for 'data'... |
This is a website where poeple register and report problems experienced on their cars. I have provided data about my vehicles to this website. If you look closely you may spot common problems unique to certain vehicles. Also you may find how other owners feel about their car. Also if you're in the market and deciding about two vehicles (X5 or Range rover) this maybe a good site to do some research before you spend your money. Ultimately its upto the individual how they use the data available out there on the internet. I myslef find this site quite useful and i believe this website is a good site that could provide some potential buyers. I have had some very intermittent problems with my car which is still not resolved by BMW. This is one site that could show a giant car company about customer's veiws about their products.

tough to call this a reliability site - but it's interesting to see what problems others have had. I remember when someone here was pushing this site every few months when the E70 was new.
I know they have to keep the information somewhat legit, but I just don't like having to register in order to submit voluntary information like this. |
I subscribe/report to that site...I don't think the site owner has an agenda other than poking people to "report" their experience every few months. I have all 3 of our current cars in the site. Does the site draw posters that complain? Dunno...I just report my 'facts'. Is the site 'reliable'? Dunno...it simply compiles the data and responses, and like any poll it is a sliver of data and small percentage of car brand owners.
For the OP, some posters there and here, have good luck and some not so good; as JCL noted the other day, BMW and many other brands, are like a lotto these days in terms of glitches, niggling problems, serious problems, or lucky winners. I suspect the complexity of newer cars is not helpful, but the Mkt seems to want the next set of gizmos. GL, mD |
If one is really interested in reliability, the best data is from JD Power and Consumers Reports, with JD Power the industry standard that most companies use to comparw themselves to other companies. The most reliable data is warranty data; however, companies consider that extremely proprietary and share it with no one.

Curiously, on the JDP deal, we have bought 4 new cars in the last decade. Only once, on the recent Hyundai Tucson for the CEO, did we get any kind of survey from them or anyone else, (besides a mfg'er 'survey' wanting us to pump up the marvelous buying experience and how great the new car was.) Odd, because we certainly are not hiding from the poll takers. GL, mD |
My X5 35D is now 1 year old with ZERO problems

3 years on a 07 4.8i and now with a 35d... kinda a dumb website when you consider that it doesn't solicit people who haven't experienced problems don't you think??
