So, what happended you ask?
Picked up today, Dec 29. New Amp (65-12-9-239-045) New CIC (65-12-9-220-076) (CIC fault code C579) New drive unit (incl with CIC) This took FIVE programming cycles to load and test the system. Multiple attempts were done, after two unsuccessful attempts, with new enabling codes for CIC required, reload of all nav data as well as nav and audio software. All warranty. Had this not be under warranty I estimate costs in excess of $5000. While the level of specificity and detail I've posted is not what I would want to see, the sad truth is nobody- not the tech at the dealership (very competent), or the Yahoos handling these multiple PUMA cases- really know what is "bad" and why one thing works in the order in which they work... It seems like it is kind of like getting Windows to work.... all of a sudden it works, and you say "Oh...well...there you go" :( The prospect of losing audio on this car out of warranty, and embarking on an 'hourly odyssey' of 'reprogram this and that' and 'replace $3000 of electronics since we don't split them up' would be rather discouraging. All I can hope is that with time these software modules will mature and we will have less guess work and issues.... http://www.xoutpost.com/images/misc/progress.gif A |
