You must have a low 'fun factor' threshold.....they are worlds apart.

Not as far apart as you would think. I went from an '08 550i Sport to an '11 X5 50i MSport. The X5 feels taller but has surprising grip and incredible responsiveness in the twisties.

Shouldn't you be over on E46 Fanatics w/ the other teenagers? Worlds apart physically, but until you've driven the, it's strictly uneducated opinion on your part as the OP has owned and driven both.

3.5 < 4.8 and the X is a great handling SAV, even coming from my past and current vehicles. I still wish I would have stepped up to a 4.6 or 4.8, but w/ the single digit temps here lately, it's like a free HP boost to my 4.4

Actually, I have a high "fun Factor threshold." I LOVED driving my 550 HARD, but I know they're two different types of vehicles with different capabilities. I wasn't saying the 550 and X5 are equals. When I left my FX35 for the 550 I really missed the room, cargo room and ride height. My point is I now have those things I missed in a vehicle that impresses me more and more each day. I realize the X5 is a true performer and much better than my FX35.

What's funny is I understand why insurance is cheaper for SUV's. When I was in my 550 I drove it hard 85% of the time. Now in my X5 I cruise 85% of the time and enjoy the view. It's weird, but sometimes I catch myself and smile.

If you want a real "Fun Factor," you need a motorcycle. Having ridden motorcycles for 43 years, I rarely get much of a thrill from any cage. I've test driven a X6M with the salesman saying "floor it and see what it does," and while it was fun, it was so far from the Fun Factor of the motorcycling experience, I couldn't see spending the money for an "M." Sorta like if you have experience a "10" ride on a bike, the difference between a "2" or a "4" in a vehicle doesn't seem as big.

When I wan a thrill, I get on the R1100GS or K75S.

When i want a real "Fun Factor" i get a hooker and take her on a night combat jump! Cars and Bikes just dont cut it for me! :-)

I hear you on the bikes, i ridden them all my life as well....sorry if the above was out of line, just seems KREED was posting that he was enjoying his car and an experience in it and everyone wants to take it away from him....e.g. not a 5 series, not a bike...he had a good BMW moment...good for him!
