I simply love my new alpine white X5 35d!!! Pics as promised! The blue one belongs to a member on bimmerfest. Options: everything except lane departure, HUD, rear ent. The ones on the off road course are not mine, it's their fleet. Wish I got one of the other side when it flipped onto 3 wheels!!!

Alpine White looks great on 214's

BMW Performance Center is the happiest place on earth

Congrats! Gee, what amazing taste you have in cars. An Alpine White 35d with 20" 214 wheels!!! :)

Jen 01-09-2011 01:06 PM

thanks! PCD was a great experience! I've been there before for M school and now a delivery! Can't wait to do it again in 34 months!

deutsch, so do you!

The BMW PC is always a great experience. I was first over the hump on one drive and got the pic below. But the other side is more impressive.

Jen, BTW, very nice! I really like my white X5, except for when it got filthy from a winter mess.

congrats!

thanks, everyone! Love the diesel sound and everything else except for that smell on my hands from pumping fuel!

Richard, mine got messed up rather quickly when I went to MD for x-mas and got snowed in:

That would crush me, seeing my brand new car covered in snow & ice. I thought our never ending rain was bad :-o

I LOVE the sound of a diesel engine! I wish the 35d had more of a diesel sound, but from what I've read...the X5 has more diesel clatter than the ML and Q7 diesels. I guess most people, American especially, do not want to hear the characteristic diesel clatter & chatter. I love it though!!!

A little diesel oil on the hands when re-fueling does smell much stronger and last much longer on the skin, doesn't it? I filled about 2 weeks ago (still have more than 1/4 tank left) and a little diesel oil got on my hand. I used Purell when I got in the car, and washed with hot soap and water when I got home...and I could still smell it!

Jen 01-09-2011 09:15 PM

not even 1000 miles on it when I got there! Now, 3 weeks later, on 1600. I just love it! when the weather permits, a full detail, clay and swissvax, etc...Just can't say enough about it!
I am one of those getting a new car every 18 months people...maybe not this time!

dmfelger 01-09-2011 09:46 PM

Congrats on the AW. I love the color and 214's obviously. I know how you feel about the snow. After the d was delivered from AZ, it rained the next day and on and off for two weeks after delivery. The d took a beating and I forgot it was Alpine White.

Jen 01-09-2011 10:11 PM

thanks, dm! I just love it in alpine white! I am fortunate enough to have the dealer closest to the factory and we were going to order it in a special color just for me, but the wait would have been too long. Next time, I'll get the blue I wanted, but alpine white is so perfect and the slight black trim contrast works so well. Not to mention that diesel sounds and torque!

Keep a bag of surgical gloves in your glovebox and use one each time you have to refuel. Works great :D

got plenty of gloves...just keep forgetting to put them in the car!

deutsch100 01-10-2011 11:07 AM

Back in the late 90's, when we had our Mercedes 300TD wagon and 300D Turbo sedan, the local 76 station provided gloves for it's Diesel owners. They were just those thin, clear plastic gloves...you know the kind the "Cafeteria Lady" wore in grade school :) They did the trick, and no latex or funny powder smell the surgical gloves sometimes/usually have. I need to find a box of Cafeteria Lady gloves...maybe Smart & Final?

Jen, I keep bumping into your PCD experience on all of the forums....even if I tried to not be so excited about mine next week I wouldn't be able to! Any idea what they do at PCD if there is snow/ice? I think that would be a lot of fun...really pushing my X5D to the MAX!!!

Don't know what they do, but I am sure it would be fun! I have those 20" summer performance tires and I not quite sure what they'll do in the ice or snow right now. She is staying in the garage. I was excited like you and next week will be great! I am home here snowed in today and probably iced in tomorrow...what a great way to start the week! What color did you get??? Options??
