Battle of the Colors: Blacked Out vs Black/Titanium vs Whited out
 

The first two immediate pictures below are what my car will look like when I'm done. The video clips are: YouTube - BMW X5 CLR X 330 and YouTube - VIP Parking Mall of the Emirates (min 1:25).

Problem is, once I blacked out my taillights (pic below as well), I've been partial towards a BLACKED OUT look. I posted a few pics of blacked out X5's as well, but my car won't be exactly like them. Problem is, I like the WHITED OUT look as well. A video clip is YouTube - Mansory Bentley & Lumma CLR X530 in Abu Dhabi (look closely and you can see the Lumma kit w/ AC Schnitzer Falcons in the hood and I think that is a Hamman roof extention). So, I guess the point is, I have options and I really don't know which direction to go. THIS FORUM IS FOR ANY CONSTRUCTIVE INPUT ON PAINT COLORS, SO PLEASE IGNORE THE KIT ITSELF.

Just me, but I personally do not like either. Sorry. But, to each his own!!

My vote's for the all white'd out one...e.g. second to last pic...

I really dig the way the florida x5 tail looks. My opinion, blue it out, blue the sh1t out! You will be the only one.

Blacked out tail lights are not only a saeft hazard, but they look ghetto IMO. I've seen some people tint them lightly, which looks pretty good. Back wheels , are not too bad. I think they look nicer when they have a nice chrome lip. Everyone has opinions. Ultimately you decide.

lightly tinted taillights are the way to go! As for black vs. white... if you're going to do it all the way like those pics, I'd choose black.

My wife would be happy with that. She LOVES the blue Audi Q5. If I were to do blue (or orange), I'd have to do a blue window tint as well ... but I'm not really partial to any other color other than black or versions of white (including cream).

For such a simple mod, the car is getting a LOT of attention. I went to the Lauderdale BMW and the valet parkers were hanging out behind the vehicle looking. The strangers and friends at work were commenting on it to me. Even my neighbor, who I have NEVER had a real conversation with came over to chat about it the next day I did it. Most importantly, I like it. So, blacked out TL is probably here to stay. I'll be doing black wheels too - just dunno if they will be fully black or black & silver rim. Depends on which direction I go. I'll have to decide by the end of the week because my parts come in tomorrow.

I have shaded tail lights already (to use with the Lumma rear eyelids), but I blacked-out the original ones so that I could compare. I prefer the blacked-out ones, but can always revert to the shaded ones if I start getting harrassed or if I just want a different look.
