been to hundreds of car fires. never a beemer. i have seen that happen though just from spinning the tire enough til the rubber catches fire. (been times i wished it happened to mine lol)

Yes but the car is rear drive and the flames came from under the hood.
Could an oil leak or oil spill under the hood be enough accelerent to catch something else on fire from the rubber trying to burn?

Gee, even I would STRONGLY suspect foul play. If the garage door is open and you accidently drive forward into a gas can, even if a spark would ignite it, just back up. Even if you panicked and couldn't figure out how to reverse, just open the door and get out. They mention the X5 was singed (implying to me, not a deadly fire within the car) and presume an accelerent to have caused the fire.

i hate to be sexist but she is a woman driver.

flooring the car like that guy was doing for an extended period does heat things up, a small amount of oil on the exaust can surely start a fire.
