Radio interference

Just a quick question, I just installed the MTEC led license plate lights and I seem to be having a lot more radio interference when listening to FM stations, the static is resolved when I turn off the lights, anyone else having this issue? and is there any way to resolve the issue?

YES!!! While my LED license plate lights are not Mtec, I switched from Satellite Radio to FM radio this afternoon...and at first it sounded great, and then tons of interference and lots of scractchy static! Every FM channel sounded this way.

Oddly, there are even some Satellite stations that sound this way too, although the majority sound clear and strong?

AND...my license plate lights were NOT on when the FM radio interference started.

How in the hell could LED license plate lights do this to the radio and satellite radio? I have NO warning lights or bulb errror messages.

I haven't noticed any of this. The handful of times I've had the radio on, it's an HD Radio station. 95% of the time I have my iPod or music streaming from my IPhone. I'll have to check it out though.

I went for a drive to run some errands and only had the radio on. I tried FM and AM. I got no interence. The static filled ones are like that in my other vehicles too. This is very puzzling to me.

In other words - don't buy cheap, non-FCC-approved crap :p:

I feel double-bad for Deutch...his kit wasn't cheap ($50 I think, right?)

Yes, I paid $50. It annoys me, but since I use FM radio maybe 5 mins a month...it is not too big of a deal. Also, the interference I was having with Satellite stations, totally went away. All Sirius stations are crystal clear, with the LED license plate lights on or off!

I am still very impressed at the light and colour output the LED plate lights provide. It makes the car look very modern next to the new LCI taillamp design...it looks like the new 5er and current 7er!!
