Swap out for 214 Wheels Question
I have an 07 CPO with 19 inch Sport wheels and brand new tires that I want to sell and get the 20 inch 214 Y Spoke Wheels. I am confused as to what I need to buy to make this a painless process. Can I just by 10x20 front and 11x20 rear and be done? Do I need to buy spacers? If so, what size and or what do the spacers do, I believe they make the wheels stand out wider from the wheel well, but are they necessary, serve a purpose? Do I have to get the fender flares, or is that just for appearance purposes, and finally, what size tires go with the 10x20 and 11x20 set up. Thanks in advance.

214s...great looking wheels, imo.
They are a 'standard'/optional oe wheel for E70. OE tire sizes are: 275/40 R20 F 315/35 R20 R Wheels are indeed, 10x20 & 11x20. Should go on directly. Spacers are usually used for improper wheel hub bore size or, to make wheels 'jut out' more, giving the 'look' a wider stance and increased offset; those spacers are not necessary. Flares are for looks and may slightly reduce kick up on the body panels by the larger/wider wheels. Other wheel/E70 xperts will add in, I am sure. Titz looking wheels, imo. GL, mD |

Thanks for the help and quick response. Any avoidance advice? I.e. some of the rims on ebay or a recommended non OEM wheel source. I cant see and wouldnt pay 3 grand for OEM wheels that I can get for $200 a piece or so on ebay, but I dont know if there are any copy manufacturers to avoid.
Also, forgot to ask, how does the TPMS work? Do I need to buy 4 more or can they take them off of my 19's if I keep them. |
have them take the TPMS off your 19s when you have the new tires mounted/balanced.
As for avoidance, I had so-so luck with wheelsandcaps.com ... long story short they had to send me 7 rims in total over a few months before I had 4 I was satisfied with. BTW, I know you said 214s but these are good 300s you may like also. A few got them from here... http://www.oemwheelsplus.com/bmw/20-...heels-set.html I would probably do that next time. |
Are the TPMS sensors on the inside of the tire or inside of the rim? Im assuming i would have to deflate the tire and have the sensors removed?

You will probably want rear flares as the wheels hang out past the standard ones, existing fronts are pretty flush, so I just did rear flares on mine.
I picked up oem refinished 214's from Wheels and Caps - Chrome/Alloy/Steel OEM Wheels, OEM/Replacement Hubcaps & more!, looked new, these are refurbished oem BMW not cheap reps and only run about $200 each instead of $600 for new. Been very happy with them and if you use your tpms off your existing wheels you can do it with new dueler run flats for just over 2 k |
Which Toyo Proxies? I could not find the 315/35/20 in the Proxi 1 series??
