I think the 35i sport wheels look better than the 50i wheels; and I believe, from other posts on this board, that the difference in gas mileage is more than just 3 mpg.

If you've got the money to burn, get the 50i, and put on the 35i sport wheels. :)

Agreed! 214s are tough to beat IMO. However, I have also come to love my 300M rims I use with the Scorpions in the winter :)

What your opinions? I would have to put 3k more down and about 100$ more a month... Would it really be worth the extra cash? Will Dinan come through with a tune for the 35i? Pro's and Con's?

Thanks!!!

Well, I've owned an X6 35i then an X6 50i....And now a 2011 E70 35d

All I can say is that I never regretted moving from the X6 V6 to the V8...The extra kick in the pants and baritone of the 50 over the 35 is pretty noticeable. I should have gotten the V8 was never truer than the day after I got my 35i

If you can afford the extra $$ for the vehicle and petrol then do it...

You know what my favorite of the 3 is? The Diesel believe it or not!

PS -- don't put any $$$ down on your lease!! Keep it in the bank, use it to help fund your payment on-going - but don't turn it over to BMW up-front!!!

I'm Financing it, as I would never put that much money down on a lease.

It's a very hard decision I just don't want to get the 35i and say damn I should...

Lol!!

The fact that you are already sensitive to it tells me you'd probably regret not going V8 -- or always wondering "what if?"

Least that would be the case if it was me...:dunno:

Get the 50. You will not regret it !

I have had an '08 4.8 since Oct and the exhaust note is worth it alone. When you drive the 3.5i and 5.0i back to back--it's a pretty easy justification if the $100/month + extra $ etc is not a deal breaker for you.

The other option for is if you didn't "have" to buy brand new you could pick-up an '10 4.8 that would give the V8, the new iDrive in it and also the 214 style wheels (most people like those over the 5.0i wheels). I bet you could get one in the low-mid $50K range. I know mine stickered for $75K 2 years ago and got it for $48K with 16K miles on it.

I was asking myself the same question a couple months ago and decided to go with the 50i. I'm still waiting for it to be delivered but I'm glad I picked the more powerful engine.
