Just bought a 2009 X5 3.0 iDrive question about IPOD
 

Hello all, I just got a 2009 X5 and connected my ipod to it via the data cable. It works fine, but does anyone know how to play the music randomly? It will only play the songs in order and its a pain to jump ahead somewhere. My newer idrive system in my M3 has a setting for random play, but I cant find such a setting. Thanks for the help.

Once you have a song selected, try holding the idrive knob down for a few seconds (instead of click and release) and a menu pops up. You can then select various things like random repeat. This works for me sometimes. I took me a while to figure this out.
