Trap doors

I changed my oil yesterday on my 2011 X5 and there is no trap doors for me to pop open. Did they forget to put it on. Should I call BMWNA or dealer about this? Could someone check their 2011 X5 and see if they have both trap doors? Thanks

Sometimes they fall off. I found mine laying in my driveway one day.

My first question, of many, is ....why are YOU changing your oil on a 2011 X5 ?

NGOSTER 02-14-2011 02:17 PM

Have you seen your oil filter before 5k miles? I should take pictures but forgot to. Anyway it was so dirty that engine oil wouldn't last 15k miles. Others have change their oil between 4-7k miles. There's one post I saw on here with pics and it look bad.

So you have taken it upon yourself to over rule the BMW engineers and make your own maintenance schedule ? All because you saw pic on a forum ? :bustingup

I did an inbetween oil change in my x5d (@ 6000 miles). Been doing inbetween oil changes on all my past bmws.

Having seen and heard nightmare stories, doing an oil change is cheap and easy. Doesnt hurt to do it anyways.

Mine has 4660 miles when I changed it. Looks really bad on the filter, so glad I did it. I will change it every 5k miles to keep it running good. All of my other vehicles is three to four thousands miles and one of them that my daughter is driving has 100k plus miles with no major problems.

I don't keep cars past 40k miles, so if my motor takes a shit because BMW's german engineers know less than I do, they are buying me a new motor.

Indeed, if you do not keep your vehicle past 40k, there is no benefit to you in changing the oil sooner than specified.
