2011 X5 Hard Drive Storage Capacity

Been researching, just want to confirm the 2011 X5 has a 12GB hard drive. Somewhere I read 80GB, now I can't find that reference, everything says 12.

Thanks in advance

The correct answer is 12.5, so what do I win?

I don't think 12.5 is the correct answer for the capacity of the drive. 12.5gb is the portion of the drive BMW makes available for music storage. There is a bunch of other stuff on the drive (maps, firmware, etc) for the navigation system and likely for iDrive. Drives have never been commercially produced in 12.5gb (or slightly larger to account for formatting losses) capacities so it's extremely unlikely to be something of that size. Additionally it's pretty likely it is in fact an 80gb 2.5" drive as that's what would likely be both cheap but still commercially available.

Makes sense, thanks Ben.

One more question, what's the best way to get music from iTunes into the hard drive? Burn to a dvd and load the dvd in?

Any suggestions is greatly appreciated. I'll be taking delivery in a few days.

In my case, I simply burned a "back-up" DVD from itunes and loaded it in that way. It was simple, but there's not much organization to the files. There are probably better ways, but that's probably the simplest, and you also end-up with a back-up DVD of all your i-tune files, in case the vehicle hard disk ever goes bad.
