Fun with the X5
 

I just took out my x5 for a drive. When driving the car, it doesn't feel like a big heavy sports car, sure you can feel the beef, but with adaptive dive it handles very good. Very happy with the car!

For it's size and heft it drives beautifully...and mine doesnt have adaptive drive so sure yours is that much better....i'm still amazed everytime i get in it.

Ditto! I love mine and am amazed by it every time I get behind the wheel.

Not enough good threads. I was in a chevy eqinox on my last business trip. All I did want wish I was in my X. Now that I'm back I can't believe how "perfect" I feel my X drives and handles. I'm truly happy. Congrats to all fellow X'ers.

My 4th X5, and the best yet! I've spent the last few days driving the Range Rover and the M6, but when I get back in the E70...everything just feels right. It is an amazing SAV!!

What I am most amazed with is the lack of understeer until well into the handling limits and even then its mild and easily controlled with the proper throttle. You just don't feel the weight of the beast when throwing it around, even as compared to an X6M that I drove.

Would prefer slightly lighter steering, but otherwise it feels great. Backing out of the driveway and turning from nearly zero speed is a small chore. :D

Interesting you would push "well into the handling limits" and not experience understeer, especially with the 315 rears. I took my x5m throught the twisties and trust me there was plenty of understeer near my handling limit. Plus her weight became painfully apparent on the tight turns.

My 50i has the Active Steering, it makes it nice and light at parking lot speeds and quick to toss it into tight corners. I think the Active Roll Stabilization in the non Ms gives it less roll than even the X5M/X6M, I do get under steer in steady state on-ramps (at 62 mph in a 25 mph curve) but a nice punch of the throttle pushes it around, and on a tight twisty road, I was even able to push the tail out a bit with full DSC on.

BTW, my 50i came with the Bridgestone performance 19s (255 front, 285 rear). I'll probably go for 20s or 21s this spring.

I'm not saying I can out handle an M3 but it sure gives them a run for the money, and they better be a good driver too....
