LED DRL retrofit kit
|
The place I get my euro car parts had this pic up on their website at one stage..
Personally I was a bit of a fence sitter..not sure if i like it or not http://inlinethumb01.webshots.com/14...600x600Q85.jpg |
Not sure. BMW traditionally is all about the Halo rings. Now you're starting to look like an Audi.
|
^^ But those are OEM BMW parts
|
I know. I'm not saying it's ugly , rice or anything. I just see that as not so appealing for a BMW. Maybe if I saw it installed or in person I would change my mind.
|
To me it looks a lot like Mercedes. Maybe seeing it in person would be different.
|
Nowadays , Mercedes, Porsche , Audi ... Etc, all have them.

I have bought similar after market led drl lights. Need to connect one of the wire to ignition wire. How can I find an ignition wire in engine bay. My car is E53 2002 model 4.4i.

If you're going to put additional DRL, I think these ones from eBay look better as the LEDs integrate within the horizontal bar of the side intakes.
The only problem I see with these ones is that both covers are fully enclosed. Unlike the OEM E70 where one side is open. And can't tell how good the fit and finish of the product is. But as with everyone here, I too am not a fan in adding more DRL on my E70. http://img.tupianku.com/bin/3839/11j...0%D0%B5%C6.jpg http://img.tupianku.com/bin/3839/22jj.jpg http://img.tupianku.com/bin/3839/55jj.jpg http://img.tupianku.com/bin/3839/44jj.jpg http://img.tupianku.com/bin/3839/33jj.jpg |
These (or any other) LEDs would probably more or less blend in with LED halos of later X5s, but with all others it will look way aftermarket/pep-boys'ish... IMHO, of course.

I tried to order "OEM LED Daytime running light retrofit (straight bar) BMW Part
#63302184000" and was told that it's not available for US BMW dealers to order. I found them on eBay: BMW Philips OEM Retrofit Kit LED Daytime Driving Lights E46 E90 E63 E60 X5 Z4 X3 | eBay |

Don't know about in North America, but the E70 X5 we get in Australia, the right side front vents has actual holes through the grill. This is to let air through to the transmission (I think) oil cooler radiator.
If you look at these, both are solid pieces. http://www.cjgarage.com/Sales/FG-BME70-DRL/1.jpg |

I think everyone is entitled to thier own opinion here. Your right answers are not easily obtainable on this forum. Yet you pay a certain amount to become a member for a certain amount of days. Don't get me wrong these forums are the best resource. Lets face it, we are a community of automobile owners sharing information regardless of what type of information we maybe looking for. Some members are excellent with helping each other out, but unfortunately, there are some that aren't helpful at all.
In regards, to your DRL(s) I personally think they are quite attractive to the BMW E70. I was thinking about putting them on my recently purchase 2007 E70. What I want to know is how and to what you wired your to if you did it yet. My sugesstion is to find an ACC wire under the hood. I will be searching for one all next week, if I find one, then I will purchase them and install them. BTW an 'ACC' wire will give you current (juice) once you turn the car on the "ON" postition and stay on when you start the car. I don't want to splice them to the Angel Eyes because that will give you errors. I hope all this helps. Don't feel bad, members here are mostly useful at sharing information. :dunno: |
My US 4.8i has a vented driver side lower grill with a cooler behind it. would those snap in replacements work??? can you take the light bar off of it and place it onto the stock vented rear grill?
(the ebay ones not the oem ones) |

I want them... how the hell do you install them though? there is no info on what type of wiring needs to be done. |
seems like they are plug and play but you lose your fog lights in favor of them if you don't wire them yourself. |
Okay so who wants to take charge and order these? :) I am looking into it.

I tried to register and actually order them but I can't seem to input the correct format of phone number that it wants. I have tried all the variations that I know of the US phone number along with the +1 and the () and with and without the +1. It doesn't tell me what format that it wants in order for me to complete the registration and place order.
The item is 139 Euros with a 18 Euro Shipping charge so total would be 157 Euros so roughly $206.00. Seems to come complete with all the wires. Anyone speak Italian? :) Help a few non-Italian speaking fellas out. Group Buy? :) |
I'm in to a group buy to but then directly from factory
