Surprisingly good MPG in the MotoBeast
8K miles on the Moto beast and I am getting surprisingly good gas mileage. 17.0 avg mpg with an avg speed of 34.6mph. Pretty darn good. I'm very happy with that.

WOW. What is your your split between Highway/City? 80% city i get like 12. 50/50 mix we are 15. how do you drive the car and what speeds. So if you have 20 miles of open highway, what speed are you driving.

34mph avg means mostly suburban and
a mix of highway. It doesn't matter what highway speed that you drive, because the 8 speed auto keeps the revs low. I think at 80 indicated you are right at 2k rpm. When I'm suburban driving/city I focus on the mpg needle and a light throttle and spend a lot of time at 30mpg ish. When I feel frisky, I drive it like it wants to be driven! :) Awesome engine |
I am averaging 16.5 mpg with my 50i in 7000 miles. I think that's around a 38 mph average. I get 15 mpg on my daily commute which is a mix of a 45 mph country road, a few traffic lights to get on the interstate, 5-7 miles of stop and go interstate, and a mile of city traffic lights. I drive conservatively with occasional uses of the power it has, to merge or leave idiots behind. Pure highway is currently 19ish but that is with winter tires and winter grade fuel. I have gotten 20 but like yesterdays 150 mile trip, it included some city driving and several times punching it hard.
I have never gotten the 12 mpg that some seem to. Even when I was pushing it hard in the mountains last fall. If I recall, I might have gotten that low on brief hard runs, but by the end of the day, I was back to 15-16. |
Kool. My pure highway I'm averaging
