Ordered 2012 X5 35i Sport

I am new to the forum, and I just ordered a 2012 X5 35i sport with convenience package, ventilated seats, and premium sound. Dealer stated it would take 5-6 weeks, the car totaled 64k excluding destination charges.

My question is, What negotiating room do I have once the vehicle arrives? I plan on financing the vehicle. It seems like the various BMW dealerships in town can't keep X5s in stock, which makes me think I have little to no room to negotiate once the vehicle arrives.

Has anyone recently taken delivery on a vehicle they ordered, and what kind of deal have you recieved? Just wanted to get a feel of what I should expect.

Thanks in advance.

Is $64k the MSRP? Did you ask the dealer for out the door price? I think all negotiation should be done prior to ordering the vehicle. I dont have any experience on negotiating after the vehicle arrive to the dealership... It all comes down to if you WANT to buy the car more or the dealer wants to sell the car more. Would you walk out the dealership if the salesman says no deal?

How do you expect to negotiate AFTER the deal has been done and your car ordered?

FYI, I got 500 over invoice.

they should only be ordering after you put your deposit down, which means you've negotiated a deal by then.

Actually they did not even require a deposit, the sales representative said because the car is in such high demand, they were not worried about not being able to sale it once the car arrived.

Just like you said they are in high demand, which means they are not obligated to sell you the car because you didnt actually "order" the car. You should talk to the dealer again or go to another dealership.

GL!

When you said you "ordered" the 2012, did you put down in writing the options you want and the colors you want?

By them saying they will not have a problem selling it..... Expect to pay full price at this stealership. They ain't gonna dance with you.

Yea I would agree with this statement. I think you did yourself a pretty big disservice by not doing your due diligence on pricing etc up front.

I'm houston area as well, got in written 3% off msrp but I'll cry for more once it arrives
eBay, edmunds, Costco all have better options than msrp, just gotta wait until April 1st so they can have the MY12 building tools available. Build a car, print it and take to the stealership. Which one did you go, btw?

HLP126, I am about to purchase exactly the same car you ordered. If you don't mind me asking, which dealer are you working with and how much are you getting over invoice?
