Passenger Seat Belt Chime "Not Working"

I hope someone can help, passenger seat belt chime doesn't come on when a passenger in the seat. I noticed most of the posts are the opposite of my problem. I bought the car used, so I am woundering if the previous owner did something to disable it. Any ideas. Thanks.

Probably disabled. Why worry?

:iagree:
I would love to disable mine. Nothing more annoying than having the chime going off because I put a 1/2 gallon of milk on the seat. The sensor is way too sensitive.

I wasn't worried until I was reading on one of the posts that it can effect how the Airbag deploys as it's based on the wieght for child proection? so if the sensor is not working airbag maynot deploy or it may be "delayed" as I read.

the vehicle is most likely coded with K-Wort OI12, which deactivates the seat belt reminder for front passenger airbag.

Thanks Killcrap, does this mean the Airbag is disabled as well? And can it be “easily” re-programmed by other than a dealer or this a dealer only thing? more clarifications is appreciated on the programming part.

in Americas, the vehicles all have the seat belt reminder coded to the vehicle. in the UAE or where ever your from, this maybe the opposite. No this does not mean the airbag is disabled. To be sure i would check the vehicle order, and then check the Coding data via Control Unit Functions to see if the passenger airbag has been coded out. Yes it can be easily activated by an independant dealer who knows how to use BMW engineering tools.
