By By 2011 X5, hello 2012 X5
Well I got the official word today. BMW is buying back my 2011 X5 and ordered me the identically optioned X5. Since my car has been at BMW over 50 Days now, they have given me the first X5 2012 Allocated to my dealership. No out of pocket costs. I am negotiating the compensation for the time which my car was at the dealership.

I'm glad that's coming to a close. Its the only real CA problem I've heard of.

Yay!! I like good BMW news. I've had 2 BMWs bought back over the years, and I think BMW treats customers brilliantly. I love me some BMW :)

Just got the call from the dealer. The 2012 was just released from the EPA stuff, and should be at the dealer Monday or Tuesday. I questioned the dealer how I was able to get a 2012 build when they approved my replacement vehicle on the April 4th and here is where I feel bad.... I am going to pre-apologize if this was your car.... I was told that I was given somebody's build date modified to meet my exact 2011 specs by BMW NA in order to get me the car as soon as possible to close this issue. I guess 60+ days at the dealer made that happen.

Dropped the 550 off at the dealership for some service and there sitting waiting in the delivery bay was the new 2012 all ready for pickup. Too bad I do not have the time to actually pick the car up today but looks like tomorrow is going to work. I did get a nice surprise today, my Adviser told me that since the 2012 spec'd out the same was cheaper, BMW added some extra options to make up for the deficiency.

Great news. Dont forget to post pics of the new beauty.
Also what extras did you get? |

Consider it compensation for all the previous X5 put you through!
Send pics! (especially of the LED rings!) |
That's why they call BMW. Not Sh*tcedes.
|
What they did was give me a new car and swapped the VIN's on the financial agreement. It is knda like I was prepaying on a 2012 and they gave me a new 2011 as a temporary car till it was built. Super win for us. Not to mention the 6600 miles we put on the old one. I have some pics and will post them tonight

I'm sure you mentioned it already, but what was the issue with your 2011 50i?
|
The CA and Key system was all messed up. The car settings would not associate with a specific key and it would randomly pic the settings. After reading the 10+ pages of report, this was the tip of the problems. They found ghost keys in the system which could not be removed or were registered with BMW. There were seat errors, and voltage irregularities in the car. Took them 60+ days for them to not figure out why they could not fix it.
|
I almost wish I can find something wrong with my 1 month old 2011 50i so I can get the 2012. So frustrating.

Congrats!
new to the e70s, but aren't the 11 and 12 models similar? Besides the 350hp vs 400hp engine, what else changed? |
No the 2011 was the LCI version w/ the TT V8. The only differences in these two trucks is the engine cover, no rails in the back w/ adjustable hooksand the LED corona rings. It also looks like the shadowline trim is a gloss black compared to a semi- gloss black
|
wait so the 2008 isn't twin turbo? and the light rings do look a lot cooler
|
2007-2010 V8 E70's were NA 4.8's. 2011 -> are 4.4 TT
|
How they put two turbos in a six in Line engine? How it works?
|
How does titling, and tax situation works out? Do they pay for your new titling etc...?
