BMWUSB website updated to 2012 X5
Diesel is still in 2011;
And BMW app require Navigation. |
The 35i and 50i now say LED Corona Rings. The 35d says halogen Corona Rings!! WTF? Why would BMW give the base model 35i LED Corona Rings, but the 35d gets halogen??!! Sucks!

Then 2012 models get LED rings....and 2012 is not even the LCI launch year. I am very, very disappointed with BMW!! |
For the LED rings, there is no excuse that diesel didnt' get it but only gas has it. They both should be built in the same assembling line at the same time.
Imaging when a diesel X5 pass the assembling line, suddenly a Halo ring instead of LED is passed over to robot hand, it must think "WTF, am I racist?":dunno: |
Take a look at the uk website for some extra angriness

I agree with everything you guy's are saying here. Ordered 2012 35i SA. Got the Tech Pkg because I wanted the sideview camera (don't ask me why), thought, HUD and high beam assist was just a bonus.
Was sitting in 2012 5-series at dealership. Noticed HUD now has better graphics and better color (you can see it if you go to BMWUSA and build a 6 series). Asked my SA is this a different option and if so, how much more does it cost. He told me same price as the one you are getting in your X5 exept this is the new improved version. I was like WTF, sorry, 2012 5 series, 2012 6 series, 2012 X5, why charge the same price for the same option and cheap the customer who buys the X5. At least if you are gonna get rid of the leftover parts, discount them. I am sorry, it seems to me that they only do this on US Spec vehicles. I live here in Europe, and they normally get the newer tech first. I maybe could understand on the 5/6 series, but like someone said, the US market is the largest for the X5. BS in my opinion. |
edmunds.com is also updated, it has detailed spec, invoice vs MSRP etc, but the model year is wrong for Diesel, it's listed as 2012
|
I've heard the 2012 diesel isn't coming out till end of year.
IT hasn't changed on the website, ie 2011, that is why the halos reflect the halogen bulb. |
Canadian X5 models are up on www.bmw.ca
Diesel shows as a 2011, 35i and 50i 2011 models are there as well. 35i and 50i 2012 models are shown in the same list of models. Prices up around $1000. Published mileage shows very slightly better for the 2012 on the 50i, but much worse for the 2012 on the 35i. I suspect a new test protocol, as I don't think the real world mileage will have changed. BMW Apps package (which includes smartphone integration) is listed for $300, doesn't require navigation. BMW Individual options still available. |

I don't think you need to loose any sleep over soft close doors, or a camera to read speed signs. I think those black 214's should be available in all markets .. although I didn't see that on the US configurator. |

I understand not selling the 5 door 1-series here or several wagons (I would buy a M5 wagon anyday-ultimate stealth), but the X5 should be available here with everything that is capable of. Just my 2c. |
Wow, y'all are a little OCD on your headlights ha.

Look at the base X5 35i on BMWUSA, it starts at $47,200. The same vehicle, meeting the same emissions standards, starts in Canada at $61,800. Some minor configuration differences, but nowhere near that amount. Shipping doesn't cost any more than to US dealers. There are no import duties applicable. The Canadian dollar is worth more than the US dollar at the moment, so the vehicle should be cheaper, not cost more. On top of this, US customers typically negotiate from dealer cost, while we pay MSRP or close to it. It fits that they need to use up old stock of halogen lights on the diesels in the US market, that they force you to buy NAV to get the apps package, and so on. |

Not that I actually pay attention to them, of course, but still.. SOOO cool. |
X5M is still not updated to 2012.

2012 BMW X5 |
I am glad I got my 35d last month. Don't think I would have done it for $4500 more.

If I had waited for the 2012, a similar 2012 X35i Premium with Convenience, cold weather, running boards and Sirius would be $500 more for what I have on the 2011, although I would have gained comfort access.
Oh well, someone always has something better |

That's true too:)

I wish there was some type of class action. If you read the material printed and online when LCI X5 was introduced, it stated LED corona rings. We got jipped.

They're headlights people...
and you can't even see them when you're doing what you intended with the vehicle, that would be driving it. Not exactly something that would keep me up at night I guess. Class action? Really now? I have to say it, after hearing this over and over, what a bunch of Nancies (no offense to those on the board actually named Nancy, for all others, well you know what you can do).
Jeesh, go enjoy your SUVs. PS and yes I have an October build 2011 X5 35D that doesn't have LED corona rings and same goes for my 2011 E90 M3, no LED coronas either, boo-hoo. I think I'll go do some burnouts in protest, no wait a minute, that would actually be fun....hmmmmm...see ya later. |
It's Headlightgate 2011.
|
I just priced out a 2012 with the exact same options as my 2011 ride, and the MSRP is about $1000 more than what mine was 2 months ago. I also got the $2500 holiday credit. So overall I save $3500 compare to a 2012 with LED halos. I was angry at first that LED is on the 2012 and not on my 2 months old 2011 but then I saved $3500 compare to the 2012 model. To me I'd rather have the money in my pocket and I can always go with LUX for $250 down the road.

Are you sure the math is correct? MSRP on 2012 should be a little less than 2011 for the same configuration. |

You may not count some features which are standard in 2012 but not in 2011

But I say F*ck BMW for shafting us 2011's with halogen halos but what can we do. At least I got the $2500 credit. |
My 2011 35d finished production today. I have no buyers' remorse for not waiting 6 more months to get the LED's. All 2011s have halogen and, presumably, all 2012s will have LED.
Don't we WANT them to continue to improve the cars each year? Continue to innovate and develop the products that we all enjoy so much? I don't understand the ire here. |
Yep, agreed...
Buy 911s, they barely change... |
Especially with most people leasing you are going to get a new one anyways in 2-3 years max. If you are in and out of cars that much you are always going to be missing something. I keep my cars 8-9 years--I'm sure there will be other changes--like a new model when I'm still driving mine ha.

I agree, got mine almost 3 weeks ago and I love it........no buyers remorse here. The 35d is an awesome vehicle. Would love LED's but didn't want to wait. |
