Proxes st/II vs DWS
I am looking to get new tires for my 214's. I currently have the bridgestone Deulers RFT and was looking for something a little more comfortable and quiet that handled well in the rain. I have an extra set of wheels and tires for the winter so I dont care about winter performance.
I have read a lot of reviews on both and was looking for other members opinions. Does anyone know if the Toyo's get louder after 20k miles like the older version? I have DWS on my acura TL type S and they feel a little soft/squishy. How do they handle on the X5? Thanks in advance |
I am looking at getting the Duelers when my Dunlops go---how many miles did you get on yours ?
|
I have less than 1k miles on them. Replaced them last year and then took the 20's off for winter. We had a pretty rough winter and the streets took some abuse, so I was looking for something a little more comfortable for driving on these CT roads. Was thinking of selling the bridgestone and getting either the DWS or the Proxes st II's

I have had the Duelers, and latitudes. I now have Vreds and love them. They are great in the rain and cost effective.. I have 15k on them and they seem great so far
|
I have Duelers HL 400 107H 19" on mine and the front ones are almost gone in about 1500 miles. The back ones are still good but I can see the wear. Totally hate the tires.
I am myself contesting between Vreds and DWS. I was told Vreds in 19" and 20" are All Season (by tire-easy.com folks), and I am not sure if they are. I thought they were Summer Performance tires only. |

The Ultrac Sessanta are a Summer tire in all sizes. The Quatrac 3 are all seasons.

i'm approaching 39K miles on my STIIs. they are 19s however so can't speak for the 20s.
noise? between the stereo and the wind thru the open windows i don't hear much. |

I had the Proxies on my Cayenne and they were good. I could not find either the DWS or the Proxies in 20s for my x5, so I picked up a set of non-run flat Latitudes and they are awesome. One of the best tires I ever drove in the rain. They are a bit more expensive, but IMO worth it.
FYI, I have a set of 18s with Latitude Alpins for the winter. I did not use them too much on x5, but the same set of tires were on my Cayenne and excellent in ice and snow. |
I am also in the market for all season tires for my 20s
The only ones I found were Continental DWS and Bridgestone Duelers. I live in NJ and snow performance is important. Which tire to get? Each one needs to be special ordered, but the Dueler is a 1 week wait where as the DWS is "we don't know" |
STS Tire Centers deal Toyos and that's where I got my STIIs (replaced STs). I like them but I don't know if they're the source of my vibration at 70mph. So frustrating that it's still somewhat there... not as bad as before. Either the rubber or the rims... they spun fine and are supposed to be balanced. Or the vehicle is extremely sensitive to the road, but then everybody would complain of this.

Hey rh71, mind posting pics with the new tires installed. I know a lot of ppl went with the dws's but I just can't get pass the looks of the conti's. . . Always liked how the Toyos look.

I bought the non-run flat Latitudes for my 19" Style 132 wheels on my E53 and they were one of the best tires I've had...But they were a bit pricey. I got over 40k miles out of them, and they were staggard. |

I have a set of 275/40/20 toyo ST/II brand new if you are interested? I purchased them to put wheels on my wife's Lexus RX, however now she wants to run 22's. I will sell all 4 or even the front pair only and keep the other 2 for my winter setup? LMK I am in NJ/PA area. They are brand new never mounted. Stickers still on them.. I will match lowest ebay price!! |
