Should I buy this X5
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys
I'm in the market for a 7 passenger. I have been looking at GX470,BMX X5 and Honda pilot. I know Honda is not close to these two, but I thought I would throw in it Honda - offer 38686 OTD. 2011 touring Navi/RES GX 470 - offer 36500 +tax. 2008 black/black Navi/RES What yr should I be looking for X5? I like the below X5. Do you think i can work on the price? 2008 BMW X5 3.0si - $39,591 Mileage: 47,896 Zcp Cold Weather Pkg (Includes Heated Seats), -Zpp Premium Pkg, -Zrc Rear Climate Pkg, -Ztp Technology Pkg (Includes Navi), Cetifed 6yr/100000 |
Sounds a little high. As an FYI my 2008 4.8 with 22k has a buyout of $43k. Gets turned in tomorrow!
Alpine White Sand beige Nevada Leather Dark Bamboo wood trim Premium Package Premium Sound Package Rear Climate Package Sport Package 20” Wheels (style 214) with performance tires Electronic Damping Control Sport Seats Technology Package Automatic Tailgate operation Comfort Access system Running boards 3rd row seat Heated front seats Rear seat entertainment iPod and USB adaptor Satellite radio Two sets of floor mats (all weather rubber and carpet) Original sticker $73,120 |
I jus talked .to the BMW dealer. The BMW does not have the spokrt pkg nor it has a 3rd row.
How is the life on X5. I do have a 2003 325i. I has been really good to me. Thanks Nilam |
Great looking vehicle, even have the aerodynamic kit, but a bit high on price, even from Canadian standards. I got mine for 50k with 3 years BMW warranty and about 32k miles on it (that includes about 15% taxes and other charges).
With Pilot and GX470, there's no comparison. X is an X. However, GX470 will give you plenty space, where X is a bit tight on knees in the 3rd row seat which is rated for people as tall as 5' 6" and leaves very little trunk room. Life is good, have seen a few around doing half a million kms. So I am expecting it would do anywhere between 300-500k. But if problems arises, then God bless ya! |
too much for non sport pkg no third row.
take a look at these 2007 BMW X5 3.0si, $39,995 - Cars.com 2007 BMW X5 4.8i, $34,987 - Cars.com just two of a few i saw. hope it helps. |

OP: according to KBB (not the standard but a decent starting point) somewhere around $40K is about right for an '08 3.0. |
3rd row in the X5 is tiny, like under 10 years old tiny - smallest of the bunch for interior space overall. I had a GX before and could not stand the side swing barn door on the back and it swings the wrong way, so you have to stand in traffic if parallel parked to get in the back (if you can even open it without hitting another car). 3rd row isn't bad for space, but since it is a body on frame truck, the seats can't fold into the floor, so they fold and flip to the side using up a lot of cargo area, so I ended up taking them out a lot of the time to make room.
Honestly I would never buy the Honda and think it is god awful ugly, but it is the smart buy - most bang for the buck of the 3. The BMW is smaller, drives better and the least powerful of the bunch. The Lexus is an armchair on wheels, but fairly nicely appointed inside (nav is terrible though), Honda will have the most room, is bland and boring, but a heck of a lot cheaper! I personally wouldn't bother with a 2008 X5 3.0 - you can get a 4.8 for not much more and have much better performance and the same mileage basically (only 1mpg worse than the 6). |

And they'll ask 7k over buy out or more! |
At least the old Lexus will not have radioactive contamination. Very seriously I was told that real radioactive stuff was detected on some japanese vehicles exported to russia.:wow: Where does the honda come from? look you are looking for one for your family. I would not buy the jap cars. Enjoy X5. it is a fun car to drive.

I just bought less than 2 mos ago essentially the same car, black/black with all of the same options as you listed... I paid $33,500 with 45k mi on it. Although I do know they're going through the autions currently at low $30's, so I got a heck of a deal. You should still have some wiggle room down from that tho. and do not be concerned about the 3.0i engine at all, it's def a heavy car, but it runs out quick all day... wife's car, but I get to drive it occasionally.

yes, CPO... it has already been to my local dealer three times under the 4/50 warranty just getting things back to perfect... I am OCD all day long and my cars need to be perfect. they have replaced trim pieces, fixed the A/C, oil service, etc.

I just picked up this 2007 2 weeks ago with EVERY possible option except running boards... only 14,000 miles!!!!!

Even at that, the numbers are high on the 3litre...there are deals out there, plus the OP realized the vehicle didn't have options he needed. Mines gone, don't know what I'm going to replace it with...will drive one of my other cars till i figure it out..I will miss the way it..but also am LOVING not paying $1,100 a month for it right now! |
For comparison, in January, I got a CPO 2007 X5 4.8i with 32k miles for $39k. Options and packages were pretty well equipped: Prem, Prem Sound, Tech, Sport, Rear Climate, Cold Weather, Comfort Access, Active Steer, HUD, 3rd Row. Warranty til Jan 2013.
Things it did not have were 20" wheels, Multi-contour, Vented seats, Rear Entertainment, and iPod or SAT (although I made them add the iPod kit before I bought) |
