Side mirror when reversing

I have recently upgraded from a 3.0d to 40d X5. My previous X5's have lowered the side mirror when reversing so you can see how far from the curb you are when parking. This does not happen on my new 2011 40d. Wondering if anyone knows why and whether it can be activated. Handy aid to stop wife from scratching the 20" 336 rims!

Make sure the mirror adjuster is set to the left mirror (drivers side). It will then lower

mine is 35d but should be same -

There is a button that goes left/right near all of the other window buttons on the driver side. Move it to the "Left" side to make the right side mirror tilt. Since, you're in Oz land it might be the opposite but that button would do the trick.

Remember only the passenger side mirror tilts, not both.

Or if in a Mercedes, the mirror adjuster must be set to the right. We Germans... must do the opposite, just to do the opposite!! :stickpoke

Mercedes' way does make a little more sense to me though!

Mirror adjustment did the trick. Many thanks.
