How do you pause a CD?

This may seem ridiculous, but it seems like this extremely basic function is missing.

Push in the volume button to turn it off, when you turn it back on it will continue where it got stopped. Works the same for imported music as well.

It's actually not in the manual. There is no mention of a Pause CD function anywhere. The description of pressing the Volume button is: "Press: switch on/off. When you switch on the unit, the last set radio station or track is played." I took that to mean that pressing the Volume button turns the unit off entirely. It wasn't obvious to me that this meant "pause CD." Thanks to those of you who answered my question.

looks like a new trend where people need to RTFM before telling people to RTFM. :D

BTW, I still listen to CDs in the car (actually a disc with lots of mp3s) cause I don't own an ipod of any sort... no need since I work at home.

I don't actually listen to them anymore at all.

I imported all of them (Apple Lossless) into iTunes and now I just distribute it out (AppleTV around the house, etc.) and bought a new iPod Touch for the X5.

It's A LOT easier.

If you have an Ipod/Iphone try the napster app, for $10/month they give you unlimitted access to their music and you can download unlimited songs to your device. No need to buy any track and you have access to music as soon as its released on Tuesdays for playing in your E70.

For the home I have MOG, on my Roku.

figured it out by accident this week and remembered this thread. depending on the year of your x5, if you have the two programmable buttons on your steering wheel, program one of them to serve as a mute button. when you press mute while a cd is playing, it actually pauses the cd. i verified two ways:
  1. when pressed a second time to un-mute, the songs picks up exactly where you left it
  2. the cd track timer stops while muted
