does this have any effect on turbo or transmission wear?

They have been using JB's on N54's for a long time and I've read mixed reviews. The initial ones tricked the engine management system to increase boost which isn't the best way to make more power. People say pay more and go with a true ECU upgrade, Dinan or Vinshu.

Losing your warranty, priceless! BMW is packing more and more tuner detection codes into the software. Please educate yourself and make an informed decision, no matter which way you go.

One tires of posting the same old, same old in response to these types of posts (the OPs post, not dragon- I agree with the warranty loss)...

Look, BMW gives bonuses to technicians that catch modified software, or the tell-tale signs of prior modificiations (ie historical operating values outside factory allowed parameters)

But OP didn't ask, so I was going to leave it be...

Fair enough. You are a BMW tech, I guess you'd know. I could post up what I've read and heard, but its all hearsay.

So you are saying the DME does not collect any data on operating parameters (ie peak boost, etc)? Someone has a failure and the DME is a blank page?

You've got a hard on for me, how about contributing to the topic?

thanks for the reply,

I am fully aware of the warranty issue, I have a 20k mod e46 M3, and a 12k mod RS4, also my G37S have some small mod done. At the first day I dropping these down pipe, exhaust, intake, big brakes, software in the car I know there will be a risks. So far, I haven't have any problem with these mod in all of my cars up to the date I sell them. What I didn't know is "BMW gives bonuses to technicians that catch modified software" WOW! first time to me

All vehicle data is captured, is not hard for them to detect any modification software, easy money for them
