Pre purchase inspection, and you can run the VIN thru carfax.

You bring the car to a QUALIFIED BMW mechanic, have them inspect the car for any damage, defects, repairs...include a dump of DME data (engine computer) and look for any old codes, evidence of 'over-revs;, etc

You do this BEFORE you buy.

You DO NOT believe the selling dealer when they say "our mechanics went through this with a fine tooth comb"... personally I don't even accept a BMW dealer and a CPO! Many people have bought CPOs only to find the car has damage, defects and issues, and BMW will not stand behind it.

Carfax and the other databases are fine for info, but only a fool will rely on them.

check your PM inbox - member M3 Paul suspects this may involve fraud.

Where did you find the listing for this car? #1, it's still under lease through August of 2011. #2, the address that Golden is using does not belong to Golden. They had a bunch of vehicles listed at cars.com, but when they were called and asked to show the cars, they hung up and will not answer the 888 phone number. The cars have subsequently been taken down from cars.com. Do you have a contact number of Golden Auto Sales, as it seems this is not a real transaction.

Thanks everyone for the information, the sale was listed on "OVE" which is on the auctions service website, its a (this is my assumption) dealer to dealer service.... It was listed as Golden Auto Sales and an 800 number, I spoke with my dealer freind and asked what I should do, he told me to email the seller and work out the basics of the deal and he would handle the pre-sale paper work on Monday.

I hope like hell I didnt cause him any undo problems, I dont like doing business with friends, just for this type of reason.

Thanks again,,,,,,

If this ends up being a sham, how do people look themselves in the mirror before bed and still sleep... :yikes:

I'd suggest asking them to see the car and take a test drive at that location, since that is where they are located, and see what their response is. I think you'll figure out how elusive they are and they won't let you see that office, since they don't actually exist there.
