OT: New Funfer....

I'm seeing more and more of the new 5'ers on the road and I really like em.

I've owned the E39 540 and an E60 550 LCI. There is an F'10 550xi on the show floor at the local BMW that I've been drooling over too. I really like the exterior evolution from the Bangled E60 and the new interiors are the nicest I've seen offered in a BMW (damn near as nice as an Audi's)

If I didn't need the utlility of the X5, I would be tooling around in a 550 or 535

Have you driven it? I had one as a loaner and liked the interior/exterior changes but thought it drove a little more Lexus than BMW like (mainly the steering).

I have not...That's the same complaint I've been reading about in the car reviews.

Gotta be something to it. Hopefully it's something they'll rectify soon.

Actually, the steering on the xi models is much better than the rear drive models. I was close to buying a new 5 but ended up ordering a 335i M-sport instead because the 5 just didn't have that solid, tight feeling I'm used to from past BMWs including the 335i.

I actually ordered a 550i M Sport and then took a hard look at it and couldn't get past how big and "mature" (like a Buick) it is. My new X5 50i came in Friday night. Couldn't be happier!

Agree with you, the steering felt disconnected, and it seemed to just wallow along.

Cheers,
