Is the M Sports Pack a mistake in a big city?
I was about to order a White 2012 SA with M Sports Pack. The real reason we want this is to lose the plastic around the fenders. But after reading about the paint chips and most likely doing a lot of street parking in a big city, maybe I should skip this? I think without the M Sports Pack not only will my fenders be safer from chips, but it looks like the bumper will have a little extra protection.
Do you all concur? Thanks! *oh its going to be a lease too |
I have a silver m sport, and live in central london and its my daily driver. I have had people scratch it and chip it whilst trying to park, and yes it is a bit more noticable on m models, but that is a small price to pay when you see how much better it looks compared to the normal X5's with their tacky plastic bumpers. Especially with bright colours like white and silver, the m package is a must IMO

If all you wanna achieve is to blend in the black plastic pieces with the rest of the car, then get it in Sapphire, it looks great w/o having to worry about chips and what not.

no chips, no m sports pack but black equals swirlies and expensive detailing work every 6 months. remember city folks don't even have a hose to wash their own car.
was thinking to get the car in white, thats why i mentioned the M sports pack for it. but my CA said that there is a maximum of about $500/600USD for ding deductions from the lease upon return. |
Just get the 3m clear wrap on those areas and front bumper.

I have the M sport in NYC. It's fine as along as you clear bra the rockers, flares and portion of the rear door. Winter ice, snow and salt is what will do the most damage. This past winter killed NYC roads, especially manhattan.
