"AWD, DSC, ABS and EMERG EBV" problem
Fellow Enthusiasts:
Wife called me this AM and told me that the X didn't start. I got home and the battery seemed drained. I managed to jump-start it after letting it charge with the M Coupe for a while and it cranked O.K.... ... but on the display I see the AWD, DSC, ABS and EMERG EBV blinking and all the dash lights are on to include the PARK and etc.. Called the dealer and arranged an appointment to get that checked, especially before we take a road-trip at the end of this week.. I tried to start the X again this afternoon and Nothing! I might have left a light on when I was vacuuming it last night.. What gives? Thanks in advance for your assistance. :dunno: |
I could be wrong but don't cabin lights turn off after a while to purposefully prevent this issue?
|
Mine probably did, but when you have an already weak battery, this might happen.

Subscribed. I'm curious how this will turn out. Good luck! |
When the battery in my 2008 4.8 died and i jumped/charged it and re-started i got all the warning lights/system failures as well....all reset after next start up...eventually solved my "high Battery discharge" and constant dead battery after washing and vacuuming (god forbid i leave the door open too long!) by getting a new AGM battery (warranty).

Why would the moon roof flip open with this warning also? BTW, I have an appt with the dealer tomorrow AM. I'll request a new battery, which is still under warranty! ;) |
"Why would the moon roof flip open with this warning also?"
Very strange...I would think it was the vacuuming and cleaning that killed the battery, exactly my initial scenario....my car was happy to tell the dealership that I didn't drive it enough and that i had left the doors open too long over the weekend! Depending on vehicle year i think there was a TSB/SIB about the battery...do a search here and maybe you'll find it.. |
Be careful about telling them you jumped it, unless you followed the jumping instructions to the letter. You do not want the dealer saying 'oh, you probably damaged it when you jumped it".

UPDATE:
Dropped the X5 off at Dealership in Mobile and was planning on waiting for it to get repaired. I also wanted them to check on some oil seepage that was coming from under the oil filler cap. The Service Manager came back and told me that the ABS Control had a fault that was causing the battery to get drained and also that the oil leak was do to some sort of valve/seal needing replacement.. Long story short, the parts were to be ordered and delivered for repair and the X will be ready for pick up hopefully Tuesday. Meanwhile, while waiting in the lobby, I browsed around and sat in the new M3 and saw a nice 5sp 540i... lovely.. A salesperson approached me and got me to perform an assessment on the X5 to see how much they can give me as a trade in..... if I decided I want another vehicle. Because of the 3rd row seat, sports package, cold weather package, nav, etc.. they valued it as 32K, he pretty much gave me a blank check to cash for it. LOL.. I don't think I'm ready to trade that in, even though my warranty expires in August.. HM.... Got my loaner 328i and went off my way! More updates on Tuesday. |
Off topic here: How many miles are on your X? Does the warranty expire due to mileage or time?
On topic: Sounds like they're taking care of the issues. Isn't that a nice feeling, that you know your X is going to be fixed and back in tip-top shape? |
It's at 48k and the warranty expires in August. Yup, good feeling.

Yesterday, I got another call from the sales rep that performed an "evaluation" on the X5. He wants us to check out the inventory to see if we are interrested in trading the X5 in.
Wife and I love the room that the E70 has. I asked if there was by chance a Diesel X70 with all the options we have. "Nope". The F35 is still in the exaluation stage and space is not that much. We need to haul dogs and such. Our main convern for trading it is is to have a certified Pre-Owned 100K warranty on the next vehicle we get. I guess we'll take our chances on the repairs.. |
