There is something to be said for the premium paid when purchasing a BMW at any vehicle age. The brand itself stands for nothing less than truly exceptional. You paid well for your 2012. X5 and paying for its customized makeup and delivery. That being said, seeing that a large item (any dent is In my mind on a new vehicle) is significantly less than "truly exceptional". This means the what was paid for is compromised and therefore you should be compensated.
My response would be "fix it and refund the depreciation of value when the car is transferred from new to owned according current used market value"OR reorder and work out compensation there under the same value mentioned before but take into account cost of delivery. I do not see this as complaining, I see this as expecting what is advertised. BMW is cutting back on a lot of things lately but it seems the published standard has remained the same (speaking from warranty experience). Really sorry the delivery went so badly. I would have been very disappointed. |
So what's the latest Raunen?

After sleeping on it through the weekend and considering the advice on the board, I asked the dealer to fix the car on Monday. And just moments ago I received a call that the repair was finished and they're preparing it for pickup. I will inspect it and if it's indistinguishable, I plan to drive it home. I will speak with the manager as well for some compensation in the form of accessories I was planning to buy. I will post an update in a few hours. Thanks for asking!

"A few hours" has passed - any update?

The repair was noticeable to me and my SA agreed. The dent in the rear bumper (below the tailgate) was fixed but a mark is slightly visible. They also added two nicks where they popped the bumper and a smudge in the clear coat. I asked for cash back, and accessories I was planning to buy and they agreed. So I brought her home :)

I would have ordered a new one and demanded a loaner. Mess up once...ok fine, accidental. Mess up on the correction of the first mess up? No way.
Then again, it is what it is. Glad you're happy with it. |
Good job sir! Congrats on your new ride!!!!!
|
I think you did good. Congrats and enjoy!

A reasonable settlement by both parties. Sh!t happens and you made the best of it. Now forget the damage/repair and enjoy your X5!
